Embassy Review : My two sons and I stayed at the Square Phillips hotel just a 2 minute walk away from the Consulat and it was great!

We got up early had breakfast and headed to the Consulat without our cells, keys, etc... We got there at about 7h10 and there was only was other person in line. But very shortly thereafter a lot more people started lining up.

At 7h30ish the lights came on and they unlocked the doors. We entered and the officer took our passports, appointment letter and started preparing us to scan our personal items. He looked to find our names on the sheet. Our names were not there. He asked another officer what to do since I had my appointment letter but our names did not appear on the list. The other office said "send them up anyway". I was glad to hear that.

We were sent down to the basement to wait for the elevator. We were crammed into the elevator as much as was humanly possible. We could not move an inch. We got off the elevator and told to go to the line for counter 14 to get a number. We got C2. The lady told us to go sit down in the middle section but our number was already flashing on the screen to go to booth 12.

We were greated by a very nice lady who asked for our appointment letter and passports and took part 1 of the C2 ticket. She then also looked on the sheet and could not find our names. She said to take a seat in front of both 10 and that she was going to get out file from the back and that as soon as the officer was finished with the current person at his booth he would see us. I started to get apprehensive at this point. We saw her bring our file and passports to the officer. He did not look to be very happy and had treated another lady a bit rudely because her appointment was at 1h30 and she had came too early.

He saw 2 other cases before he called us up. He took our medical documents and then he took our finger prints and told us to go back to the main waiting room. No questions were asked and he did not ask for any documents. I told him I had the additional passport pictures and he said they already had a complete file for us and did not need any additional information. I had carried originals and copies of everything including printed DS 230s because Montreal does not use the electronic version.

We went back to sit down and were again called to booth 12 within 5 minutes. Again the friendly lady apologized for the mix up and proceeded to have us sign the DS230s that I had sent to the NVC. She had my son sign his letter about registering for Selective Service and not getting married because he is 19 and then she had me sign the DS 230 for my step son who is a minor. She said to go back to the main waiting room and that we would be called for our interview shortly.

About 10 minutes later we were called to booth 7 and the very nice blond hair lady was there. She asked me where my husband live, what he did. She talked to my older son about being in College and how he could ask for a re-entry permit to continue his studies in Canada is he wanted to. She then said Welcome to the United States and handed me the letter. I was so happy. When we got in the elevator at 9h10 and the door closed I let out a big YEAH!!!!

It was a very good experience. I recommend you come prepared with all originals and documents because when we were sitting waiting for the gentleman in booth 10 they asked a lot of people for all this information. Maybe because my husband is an LPR and we started the process 4 years ago our file was complete but I still felt good about bringing all the documents. We saw a lot of people filling out the DS 230 form by hand.

Most everyone was pleasant and helpfull and made it a good experience!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
