Marriage : 2011-10-06
Comments : The interview was the easiest part. Simple questions like how did u meet your fiance? How often did you correspond with each other? When are you going to get married? Is your family going to be at the wedding? Your visa is approved. The wait was horrible though. It took four and a half hours all together and the worst part was that there were hardly 15 people that were being interviewed! Well all is well that ends well. So good luck! Will add more details a li'l later.

Event Description

Embassy Review : Hi folks, I'm quite happy it's finally ended and ended well! My interview was scheduled at 1pm on the 29th August. I reached 40 min before time as I was caught up right in the middle of a protest thereby halting the traffic in chennai. To my surprise there was no queue at all! They admitted my inside right away, I should say the security have to take their jobs seriously, they literally took 15 mins to let me through; the reason wasn't strenuous checks, they were happily chit chatting and laughing. After I went in, I was shown way to a room in the adjacent building where 14 other applicants were waiting. After waiting for an hour and half, I was called for the prescreening. An old tamil chap asked for my applications, I134's, medical reports, pcc's etc. I have a PCC from the local passport office but my PCC from the Uk hasn't arrived yet, so that triggered a form 221g right there and it was expected anyways. He was so obsessed in trying to force me to admit that my fiancee and I are already married! He asked questions like how do you know each other, where does she live now, what does she do, where does she work(right after i told him she is a student and she doesn't work!), who's co-sponsoring?I said he was obsessed because, he asked all these questions quite rapidly and he asked me when did you two get married in india, three times during the course of our conversation. when he asked me the third time i got pissed off and i said "you don't seem to understand, i don't think its my english, but we were never got married and only ENGAGED!", to which he nodded and didn't ask me again. Then he asked me to go back to the waiting area and wait to be called for the fingerprints. I was called to give fingerprints after 30 min apprxly. A white guy took 'em and then the waiting began. I was finally called after waiting an hour and 45 min. The american lady asked me how my fiancee and i knew each other and how often we corresponded. she then asked me when the wedding would be. she then asked is ur family going to be at the wedding in the us, to which i answered,no and then she asked then would you have another ceremony later here, to which i replied "no, there won't be another ceremony. that is the reason we had an engagement ceremony bigger than usual inviting all the family and friends in India as no one would make it to the wedding in the US" she then said the visa is approved and asked me to mail the passport and the PCC from the UK to VFS.

The actual interview part only took 2min at the most. I honestly don't understand why it typically takes 4 hrs. They were only 15 people.
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
