Consulate Review: Naples, Italy
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 26, 2011
Embassy Review : The first day i got there (Naples) i had a horrible view of a city covered with trash...but then i realized that the trash itself was covering a beautiful city! Good people always willing to help you, amazing food (if u don't try the original pizza in Naples you're crazy!), and neat places that u need to discover only by yourself, because if you don't walk around a lot you'd have a bad opinion of Naples. Me and my mom (yes, don't go by yourself, you need support) stayed at the B&B Mergellina, very close to the embassy (about 10 minutes), very convenient (58 euro a night!), but don't expect anything amazing, you're not in a 5 star hotel. Let's talk about the important stuff.

Day 1: The medical exam.

If you're staying close to the embassy you definitely need to get a taxi, because the Istituto Varelli isn't close at all, don't even think about going for a walk!:D So you get a taxi (0815606666 is the phone number) and go to Via Cornelia dei Gracchi, the taxi driver may not know the istituto, so have the address with you. MAKE sure you have everything you need with you (passport, forms, one picture, vaccine records and most importantly MONEY) and be there at 8 o'clock. Wait in the line then tell them that you are there for the K-1 visa medical exam and give them your passport, then you wait in the yellow chairs until they call your name. First they're gonna take a blood sample, then you wait a lil' bit until they call you again to go in another room. Here you give the lady all the forms she needs and after that you'll pay for the exam+the vaccine/s (i paid 185 euro just getting the tetanus). Afterwards you are going to have the medical interview (don't be scared it's very simple) They will check your body, height weight and you'll get the shot/s you need. You get back to the yellow chairs then last thing is the x-ray (takes like 10 seconds). When you're done with all this they're probably gonna tell you that the results will be ready by noon. After you get the results (DO NOT open it) you can go to the embassy for fingerprints after 2 o'clock.

Day 2: The interview.

Be there at 7 o'clock because people will be already there. Ok one thing before you get into the embassy: CHECK if they put a stamp on your BNL receipt...'cause if they forgot to you need to go to the closest BNL and get it!...just saying because i had to do it while i was giving them all the paperwork After you get thru security check u go upstairs (2nd floor) and wait until they call your number. The first thing they ask you is all the documents passport and once you're done with that you can go and pay the rest of the visa fee (BNL) if you need to (i spent 185 euro). Then you WAIT your turn...this time they'll call your name...oh the interview will take place right where you gave them the documents, thru a window. Don't be scared, you don't need to know english, they speak italian as well! He/she is gonna ask you a couple of questions and that's it! They told me i can get my visa at the MBE (Mail Boxes Etc.) around 5pm.

Unfortunately my passport with the visa wasn't ready so i had to make them send it home (23 euro). I'm still waiting for it...the MBE guy told me that they send the visas every wednesdays and fridays, and it takes about 3 business days, so i hope i get it soooon!!!

When you’re done with all the visa stuff, spend some time for yourself, relax and enjoy the city:D

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
