Consulate Review: Dublin, Ireland
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : March 30, 2012
Embassy Review : Ok so I was unsure how this review would end up, as I was refused 3 times an F visa last year and that I supposed instilled some fear of refusal, but ive been to this Embassy many times for many visas and always had a pretty good experience other than the F Visa, which i guess was evident I wanted to be back with my Fiance, I was still going to attend school, but it all worked out for the best in the end.

My appointment was at 1PM, I arrived at the line outside at about 12.50PM. There was 3 people ahead of me and I was let in about 1.10PM. Go trough the airport like security which are friendly and on up to the consular section.

On this day it was not too busy at all and I think i may have been the only K1 interview there although not sure. We were not required to take a ticket number this day. So within minutes of entering I was called up to pay the fee. Sat down and then another few minutes was called to hand in DS156 x2 and the affidavit of support etc. 2 passport pics and The 156K, Birth cert and police clearance. Then told to sit down and wait to be called for interview.

Within a half an hour I was called up for the interview and finger prints. I was asked to raise my right hand. I the questions I was asked that I can remember:

When did you meet your fiance?
What Month?
When was she born?
where was she born?
Where is she now?
Did she ever live in Ireland?
How did you meet?
When did you see her last?
How many times has she came to visit?
Why did you meet in Toronto?
What does she do.
Did you ever overstay a visa?

I was then asked about trying to get the F visa last year, and asked did I think I could get that past them and why did I lie, she said to me, it was because you wanted to be close to your fiancee right?

I explained I really was going to attend school but it was partly because I wanted to be with her. She then asked if I was going to go that time and marry and change status to which I said we had not discussed marriage at that point which was true.

She didn't ask to look at any of my evidence. I was then asked to explain about my legal stipulation that I had in the US in 2008. And that was it. She told me, "Im going to say you visa is approved BUT, I cant see everything on the system, so I have to check out this legal matter and if everything checks out with what you say, you will have your visa in a few days." And 3 days later I received my visa!!

On this visit, I found the staff and the CO firm, But pleasant! I know there was some reviews about an Irish lady who is quite rude, that lady wasn't here this day. I have always found the staff and CO's quite pleasant except the one Irish Lady mentioned in previous reviews, I remember her from previous interviews.

So all in all, it was a quick and simple process. The staff where efficient and professional.

I wish you all a similar experience.

Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
