Event Description

Embassy Review : Let me begin by saying I'm pretty sure ours have been a very out of the ordinary experience throughout this whole journey. We feel very blessed and are certain that God has been with us guiding this process very closely for us. It is perhaps because our wait really goes back to 2005 when I had to move to the US and leave my fiancée back in Cuba, with the hope and kind of certainty that somehow sometime we would be together again.
Our experience with this process has been excellent, especially as compared to that of others here. Our NOAs 1 and 2 came very quick, and our interview appointment was quite surprisingly close. These have been very hard few months but we understand there are many others worst than us.
Our interview on 9/1 in Havana went like this: We arrived at the Calzada & K Park early morning, at around 6:15am. They start calling the names of those with interview appointments for temporary visas first, then permanent visas. They call K1 visas on the latter group. Then a line is formed in the order you’ve been called to start coming into the US INT quite slowly, but by 9am we were already in and we were #82.
Once inside you are assigned a window number and you form another line. When called to the window they will review and keep all the paperwork, then send you to the cashier window to make the $350 CUC payment. Then you sit again and wait till you are called by name for the actual interview with a US official. We patiently waited, had some snacks, and as the matter of fact somehow enjoyed the wait being there together chatting and making jokes. I have to say we actually had fun, but we didn’t have to wait a whole lot, by 11:45 we were called in for the interview.
When we approached the window, the lady was smiling and just said “oh, you’re both here, good!” and asked us to sit down. She then said something like that she could torture us with 10 or 15 different questions, but our case was so evidently legit and beautiful that she couldn’t but say yes. We hugged each other, my fiancée almost cried, and we thanked her like a thousand times. She asked my fiancée if she had studied or worked, and asked me what I did for living. I’m a Software Engineer so she just went something like “oh, then you should be able to take care of her” and didn’t even ask for the I-134. She gave her the pass to go back to pick up the visa and said it should be ready by the following day but it was a Friday and apparently they are not open to the public on Fridays so asked us to come back on Monday. We couldn’t believe all we were hearing.
Our evidence simply included a summary of our Yahoo chat logs of the past 6 months or so as well as phone calls, a small photo album with pictures since 2004 when we first met, and some emails since then as well that we found really naturally romantic. We have a very strong connection and a lot of things in common and it all clearly showed.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
