Event Description

Embassy Review : Good day guys,

A quick review of the activities of today the 22nd of December 2010 at the LAgos consulate in NIgeria. My appointment was for 10am and I was leaving for the mainland to the island and knowing how traffic could be in them parts decieded to leave home for 7am in the morning. Better to get there early and wait than arrive late. Got a friend to drive me in case I need to pop out and jump on a bike if stuck at some point in traffc.....lol. Well lucky was the roads were free that early so we got to the embassy at about 8.30am. After parking at the popular car park I stolled around the embassy and and went to the guard to make some enquiries. First is the 10am appointment could sit in the blue seats provided directly opposite the embassy. I was told I would need to be around the embassy at about 15 minutes to 10am to queue up. SO I went back to the car and gently waited as the other place to sit around there would charge you 200naira to sit down on their chair.

At about 9.47am I strolled back to the front of the embassy and already there was a small queue outside lining up to get in. I disguished them by the large brown envelopes we were all carrying for the medicals. lol. ANyways I lined up and I was number 9 in the queue. Thanking God for the reviews at VJ now that always said we are suppose to open the medical envelopes before we went in. So on the queue I started opening mine with the white envelope inside as well. People were just staring in amzemenmt saying we were not meant to open them. But I laughed cos I knew the type of orientation I have gotten over the past couple of months. Anyways, at about 10mins later the guard came around and asked us to open the brown envelopes and also the white ones in them and if we have done that we were free to go inside and meet the people going to check you into the sitting area. Some people were still arging with the guard but I quickly matched forward and from number 9 on the queue I became number 2. My appointment letter was checked and I was given IV 28 while the dude in front of me was given IV 27. We waited about 5 minutes and we were called in groups of fives to line up to get security checked before going in. I must say IV candiddates are treated like 1st class passengers at the embassy as I met tones of NIV candidates in the seating area and we went in way before them.

Got into the embassy at about 10.45am. about 5 mins later I was called to a window and I was asked for 3 passport photograhs and also photocopy of my marriage and birth certificate which I had with me.(luckily). Then I was asked to sit down and wait for my interview.

Where we were sitted was quite differnt from the NIV petitions and we werr answered quicker than them. Before I was called I could hear some peoples interview proceeding as there is a speaker that brings out what the CO is saying and you talk close to it as well so I pretty much listened to about 5 differnt interviews before I was called. 4 were denied and 1 was approved. I would say if you know you spouse you would not have a single problem as these are just basic questions that peeps simply cannot answer. Imagine the CO asking someone what his spouse does for fun and he says he doesnt known. From then on I knew there was issues with that 1. then so many other I really cant get into.
I would say it is a orale builer if your spouse can be there in person. The only man that got his before me when asked when he last saw his wife he said an hour ago. The CO was surprised and that was the end of the interview and he was granted.

Here was how my interview went:

CO: CAn you raise your right hand up and promise to say the truth
ME: yes I do

CO: WHo is filing for you

CO: What is her name

CO: WHen did she travel to the US

Where did you first meet

what was she doing when you meet her

what were you doing as well

What does your wife do

SO she doesnt work so who is sponsoring you guys and how is he related to you

Where does your sponsor work

what profession are you looking to go into in the states

where does your wife live in the states

when did she get her citizenship

has she ever bin married before

Does she have any kids

Do you have any kids

Were did she go to skl

what did she study in school

what does she like to do the most
End

HE didnt ask to see any of my laptop fully loaded with 2 packs of A4 papers with supporting evidence. So he was typing away and finally he asked me to go to a collection centre in 2 weeks time and apologized cos it was the holidays and that was why it had to take that long. As I was about leaving I told him but I have a bad filled up with evidence here and he didnt even look at any and he just said I have been very eloquent enough and supporting documents are needed when the applicant cannot express themselves enough. I was happy and overwhelmed. I had spent so much time and resources getting all these print outs and callrecords and none of them was even looked at.

But I still maintain it is better to be safe than sorry. I am just happy to hve found this site as it has just been a source of inspiration to me and my wife as we went through this process without a laywer and was hitch free. Thank you guys for all the love and constant support. God bless you.

Now another JOurney begins.....just like 24 the series.......lol

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
