Filed to expedite 1/24/11

Re filed to expedite explaining that no one asked for documentation for the original expedite request 2/21/11. I never got another communication, but we got our NOA2 on 2/24. I am assuming we got the expedite, because of receiving the NOA2 so quickly. We never did get any kind of notice confirming the expediting.
More Expedite info.
Once we got approved (case completed) from NVC i wrote to ask about getting the interview expedited. We went round and round with this. NVC told me it was up to Costa Rica Consulate and the CRC told me it was up to NVC. Anyway.....i do believe we got expedited, because we were given our interview so quickly (6 days after completed). Officially we heard nothing about the expedite. Then once i got my interview date, i asked via e-mail and personal visit to the embassy in Costa Rica to have it moved up if there were any empty slots. Once they received my package from NVC with took about 9-10 days (2 days in transit, 7 days to review), they gave me an interview 10 days sooner than my original interview that NVC set. The downside is they lost some of our documents between NVC and the CR Counsulate that we cannot replace so easily. Stay tuned. I will add more after the interview on the 5/10. So far i have been completely amazed and happy with this process. The squeaky wheel, does get the oil.
Update 5/12/11
We had our interview on the 10th and were approved. They accepted our copies and or the "other" originals we had. The only questions that we were asked....and it didn't even seem like questions, more "matter of factly" in a conversation. The lady reviewing the documents at the first window we went to, asked how we met and when. Once she got the papers in order, we were sent to wait for another window (the interview). Agnes had her fingerprints done (digitally) and we waited about an hour. Then we were called to another window where a nice gentleman had Agnes take an oath of truth that all facts in the papers were true. While shuffling the papers and having her sign her DS-230 he asked me what i did for work, i told him and that was that. We were approved. It was so "matter of fact" and uneventful that we didn't even realize the interview had actually happened. It was so "non stressed". The people at the embassy have been so nice and considerate. It was a very pleasant experience. |

The only question we were asked was when we were married and had it been less than two years. There were six people ahead of us in line and it took about 30/40 minutes to finish. They took Agnes's fingerprints and that was it. Very, very quiet and easy. Kind of a let down, yet a blessing as well. They would not give us any of our original documents or any documents for that matter. |

So far so good (as of 5/3/13). Vermont signed for our package on 3/17/13 and we received our NOA on 5/3/13. We received our biometrics appointment on 5/10/13 set for 5/30/13. Seems like things are moving along pretty nicely. We have to change our appointment date because Agnes has school that day, so i will post as to what happens when we change the date.
UPDATE: We changed the date with no problem at all.
UPDATE:......Did the biometrics on 6/14/13. No problems....in and out.
UPDATE RFE:
Okay we got an RFE saying we had not proved a bonafide marriage. Pretty ridiculous after everything we sent. Everything they asked for we sent. One thing that is a problem is that my wife is not on my mortgage. I was in foreclosure when we married and do not want to put her on to ruin the credit we are establishing in her name. Also my credit was shot, so when we bought her car, it could only be in her name. They are claiming that our taxes for the last two years does not prove that we filed........duuuh? I wanted to send transcripts, but they wanted the forms. It is obvious that they did not even investigate to see that we indeed filed jointly for the past three years. Probably part my fault for not putting her name on the electric, phone and water bills. Guess i will do that now. More to come. I thought for sure we had this in the bag.

We got the 10 year greencard. Yaaaaay. No interview. 9/20/13
UPDATE: 3/22/14
We just finished our 2013 taxes and will be filing for residency within the next week.
UPDATE: 11/6/15
We did not end up filing for residency until 10/15. Life was just too busy and it didn't seem so urgent. Now we are going forward again. Should have residency by Christmas if all goes well.....then again, what do i know. lol
