Comments : 01/13/10: The interviewer stated they will further review our case, and call my fiance "in a week".
01/13/10: Sent email to consulate about case status.
01/15/10: Response from Casablanca: "your fiancé's case is still pending administrative processing and we cannot tell you exactly how much time the processing will require."
01/20/10: Consulate called and set 2nd interview date for next week.
01/29/2010: Houssain was supposed to pick up his APPROVED visa at the consulate today. BUT, the consulate lost his DS forms, so his trip to Casa was to take new forms. They did not have his visa ready, they said they will call him when it's ready next week. Not happy about this at all.
02/03/2010: Consulate called this morning, told him to pick up the visa tomorrow. He rushed to the consulate today, and they let him pick it up the same day they called.

Embassy Review : Houssain was the last one they interviewed this morning. He said the guy that interviewed him was not really friendly, but that the guy was “ok” and cordial and respectful. There were only a couple of minor questions that Houssain could not satisfactorily answer (the exact year I graduated high school and what year I married my ex-husband). Houssain said the interview was about 10-15 minutes, and they covered most of the usual stuff (birthdates of me and my kids, my career, my family’s information). He was asked about why I got divorced. He answered “her ex husband started to take drugs and was not responsible. He did not take care of the kids like a father should.” The interviewer asked “it is strange that you would you give up a good job and everything you have. you have a good life here in Morocco.” Houssain answered “it is not about materials and job. I love her. She has a good heart.” The interviewer asked “why would you want to marry a woman who already has three kids?” Houssain answered “because I love her. Even if she was older than me and had more kids, I would still want to be with her because I love her.”
The interviewer asked "why doesn't she come here?” Houssain explained "because she would not be coming here alone. She would bring three kids. So that would be a big life change for 4 people. Where if I go there, it is a big life change for just one person. Also, her son alex, is in school and has lived in America for 8 years. It would be hard for him to adjust and go to school here in morocco right now.” The interviewer asked about my living situation and why I live with my mom. Houssain told him "she does have her own home, but she prefers to live with her mom. she is old and jennifer takes care of her." The interviewer asked about my religion. I was learning about Islam before I met Houssain, and I announced my shahada about a month after meeting Houssain. The interviewer asked “was she muslim when you met?” Houssain said “no, but she was learning about islam and we talked about it a lot when we first met online”. The interviewer asked “did she know any muslims before you?” Houssain said “I’m not sure but I think so. She was learning and talking about wanting to meet some muslims. She does have muslim friends now.” The interviewer asked what religion I was before reverting. Houssain answered “Christian.” He asked “what kind of Christian?” Houssain said “I don’t really know, she said her family was just Christian.”
In the end, the man gave Houssain the “we regret to inform you” letter, the “other” box was checked and the reason provided was “Further review of your case.” The guy told Houssain that they would call him “in a week”.
I called the consulate this morning (immigration visa phone #212661998364), asking why the additional review is needed. The woman would only say “the reviewer must look over the information El Houssain gave him, and we will call El Houssain when his case is ready.” I asked her if it would be within a week, like the interviewer told him, and she said “we cannot tell you it will be one week. it may be more”.
Houssain and I are going to be patient, and wait the week. And if he has not heard anything by next Wednesday, then I will be calling Casablanca again, to find out what’s going on.

Event Description

Embassy Review : Our case seemed to not need an interview, as it was transferred to the CA servicing center and everything had been going smoothly. But, for whatever reason, we were scheduled for an interview. The appointment was at 8:00 am. We were there 15 minutes early. I had left my driver's license at the hotel, so they would not let me in the building. My husband was allowed to go in, and I just had to watch through the window outside. I saw the interviewer call my husband and they went into the offices. I waited outside, very nervously pacing at the front doors, until the interviewre (a man) came to the door and told the security guard he needed to talk to me.
The interviewer was really VERY nice. He said he did need to ask me some questions, and if I minded doing it outside. Of course, I said we can discuss outside, because the only alternative was for them to reject our case. He asked some questions, which really only seemed to be verifying what my husband had already answered during his part of the interview. (where are you living now? have you travelled recently? how many kids do you have? etc.)
The interviewer went back into the offices, and I continued my pacing outside. After another 5 minutes, my husband was finished and came out with the letter stating his AOS was approved.

We are so happy and completely relieved to be done with this. No worries for the 10-year visa...

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
