Comments : Lynne enter the US at the Windsor/Detroit tunnel, on 2/8/2009. The officer at the check point was very friendly and joking, saying to us that " you did it the legal way" He asked Lynne how much money she was bringing in, he asked me if I knew my license plate told him,"this is a rental.." he looked inside the car then told us to up and then go inside. Once inside we waited about ten minutes. Then we were called to the counter. The officer who took care of us, was friendly and honest stating to us," this is the first K1 I've done " he want and got his books to look up how to do a K1 visa entry. He asked Lynne, the address were she was moving to, had her place her fingers for her fingerprint, went over the packet, told us that once she enters the US, we have 90 days to get married and she can use her I-94 to travel back and forth till we got married. But we had told him that we are getting married on the 21st of this month, then he said, " you can leave until you have your Advance Parole" , to which we reply, "we know". Over it went well, total time approximately 35 minutes.

Consulate Review: Montreal, Canada
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : February 9, 2009
Embassy Review : The first person that Lynne spoke to at the American Consulate was not helpful. She was intimidating, condescending which made the first part of the interview very frustrating for her. She had to leave the consulate to get $131.00 in cash, That was my fault, I had a money order for that amount but that was not acceptable. Once that was done, she went back sat and waited around for another hour, then she was called into the room, this time she had the Consulate General himself who made her more at ease, he ask her about her experience so far, to which she replied" terrible" she explained her ordeal with the first person, he then made her feel comfortable and the rest of the interview went well. Thru all this I waited for her at a little coffee shop at the corner from the consulate. This is the way she related the story to me. Once I saw her walking towards the coffee shop, she had a glow about her telling me that the ordeal was over and done. She was told that she would receive her visa and passport the following week. Her interview was on Jan.21,2009 got back to Windsor Ontario on Thursday evening. Friday( Jan 23,2009) afternoon she had received the pre-paid envelope with everything. Her passport, inside the passport was the visa, she also received a brown envelope in which you were told not to open. On the back it was double taped and there a signature. Also on the front a piece of paper with instruction DO NOT OPEN!!!!!. This must open only by the Customs Officer at the time you enter the US. If your curious in what is in the envelope, it is simply all the paper that you had file for the K1 visa, that they go over. If you open this before crossing and ruining that seal you have to start the process over. This was told to us by the Customs Officer when entered the US. He said. " you would be surprise on how many people open that envelope, and they have to start over again".

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
