My husband's visa interview was scheduled for January 7, 2026. However, they expedited his visa interview to December 23rd right after his document review. They approved his visa.
Questions asked:
How did you meet your wife?
Where does she live?
How many rooms is in her apartment?
Where does her parents live?
How often does she see her parents?
What does she do for a living?
What does she do for fun?
How many times has she been to Nigeria?
Did you pay the bride price?
Did you have a traditional wedding?
They also looked at the pictures and said your visa is approved. |

Entered country January 1, 2026 Dulles airport. Process from him landing to me actually greeting him at the international arrivals terminal was approximately 30 minutes. He was asked 1. Who invited you? 2. What is the address 3. And then mentioned something about the green card being mailed to the address and him being able to travel internationally if needed until the green card arrives. |

Very good. Everything went smooth. It took approximately 30 minutes from the time his plane landed to the time I actually saw his face in international arrivals terminal.
The CBP officer was very kind and only asked him 1. Who invited you? 2. What is the address? 3. Mentioned to my husband something about the green card being mailed to the address, however, he can still travel internationally if needed (up to a year) until the green card arrive. |

Timeline Comments: 11Hello! Are you Documentarily Qualified? If yes what is your DQ date? Have you received the IL?
No, I'm not DQ'ed yet. Sorry I am just seeing this comment
I will like to add that an immigration officer previously told me that my case was transferred to Potomac Service Center. However, my approval came from Texas where it was originally. So I'm not sure what that was about.
Oh ok. Good morning. I have no reasons as to why they transfer cases to other service centers. My spouse filed for me August 8th 2023 and I have been documentarily qualified since February 8th. I'm just waiting for interview letter from US Embassy Accra Ghana.
I could see you submitted Ds261 form. Mine was Ds260 form. I guess it's up to NVC to decide which is required of the applicant to fill.
I deleted that entry, it was DS260 form. Sometimes it takes a while to receive the interview letter. I don't know why the US Embassy overseas is not faster.
I don't know why they transferred my case from Texas to Potomac. I thought maybe it was because I live near the Potomac center but then they transferred it back to Texas.
Mine was also Texas service center. Embassies in Africa are backloged.
Good morning, just wonna ask if you have a clue how long is nvc takes to schedule nigeria interview after approval because I just got approved on Monday 24th 2025
I'm sorry I am just seeing this. It takes a while, it took me about 14 months
Congratulations Rhonda . This is good especially a lot of people out there complain Nigeria is slow to approve . I live in dc I and hubby filled in 2024 so waiting and hopefully soon we would hear
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
** Not all cases are transfered
