US Entry : 2023-09-29
Marriage : 2023-10-15
Comments : US Entry was very easy and quick. The initial officer only asked a few questions (mostly the typical customs questions, but also if it was the first time in the US) and took the K1 packet. We went to the secondary room after, and waited about 5-10 minutes, and then were called up. The second officer asked 3-5 questions (what address would we be at? did we have a wedding date set? did we want to have a reception? did we know what to do next?) and then we were through!

Comments : The wait wasn't bad, but the interview was long! We were with the agent for about two hours, they went over the whole 'checklist' of yes or no questions again to verify. We started with personal questions in a few categories, but they did not ask to see our photos. They did see current year tax returns (we had just done them!), a copy of his medial vaccination records (from the I-129F medical for the K1), and the lease/utility bill with both our names on it, and took a copy of those, but that was it for paperwork handover!

Did you get any email from Mumbai Consulate to schedule interview and appointment? My case in Ready status from 21st July 2023 and I have not received any further correspondence
MandaRose on 2023-08-04 said:
No we have not! We just got ready status today August 4th. I think next we need to fill the DS-160 and pay the fees on it, then schedule the appointment!
blank avatar Hiteshk1 on 2023-08-04 said:
Ok, I got the Ready status on 21st July 2023 and scheduled my interview for August. But for the medical they are asking for appointment letter from US consulate, which I dont know of.
MandaRose on 2023-08-04 said:
Do you have proof like of your interview date? The confirmation of that appointment? I think that's what they mean by 'appointment letter'!
blank avatar Hiteshk1 on 2023-08-04 said:
After my case was in ready status at NVC ceac website on 21st July 2023. I scheduled my VAC appointment and consular interview on 30th July 2023 for August 2023. I did not received any other details apart from Ready status on NVC. I have the DS 160 and appointment confirmation. But not any appointment letter.

I contacted the medical place again and they declined to schedule an appointment until I can give them instruction letter from Mumbai Consulate (packet 4 instructions) which I do not have.
blank avatar Hiteshk1 on 2023-08-19 said:
From where did you get your medical done? Did you receive any packet 4 instructiona from Mumbai Consulate?
MandaRose on 2023-08-19 said:
We have scheduled our medical for this coming Tuesday, at the location in New Delhi. We have not yet gotten the P4, but the Delhi location doesn't require it. Mohali does though!
blank avatar Hiteshk1 on 2023-08-23 said:
Was the medical done on 22nd August and by when will you get the report?
MandaRose on 2023-08-23 said:
Yes! The medical was done Tuesday Aug 22nd at the New Delhi site, and they said to come pick up the results on the 29th!
blank avatar Hiteshk1 on 2023-08-27 said:
Got packet 4 on 24th August 2023, now waiting for interview slot. There are no slots right now.
MandaRose on 2023-08-27 said:
I'm glad you are waiting for a slot now! Keep checking, they add them often.

Did you get your visa already? If yes, does it mention the ds 160 number? My visa is in issued status
MandaRose on 2023-09-22 said:
Not yet! Ours just went to issued status today so we are waiting for the ready-for-pickup email (tomorrow? Monday?) once we get the visa will let you know!
blank avatar Hiteshk1 on 2023-11-20 said:
In the AOS form, what did you put for assets and liabilities, like for liabilties fid you put according to rent and expenses?
MandaRose on 2023-11-20 said:
We don't have any liabilities (mortgage or lease payment, car loans, school tuition, or child support, etc). Do not include normal living expenses like rent, food, utilities, gasoline, clothes, etc. in that area.
blank avatar Hiteshk1 on 2023-11-23 said:
Thanks a lot for the info. Did your fiance change your name after marriage? Did you wait for the name to be updated at SSA and DMV before filling AOS?
MandaRose on 2023-11-24 said:
He kept his name! I plan to change mine but not for a while yet because we have (domestic) travel booked in my maiden name. So we have his SSN card with his original name (which he is keeping)!
blank avatar Hiteshk1 on 2023-12-12 said:
What extra documents did they ask you regarding RFE?
MandaRose on 2023-12-15 said:
No extras, they requested the I-864 with supporting evidence, but we sent a full copy in the original packet! Not sure why they want it again but obviously it’s easy. Just fill it out again and copy tax forms again and send. Let’s see.
blank avatar Hiteshk1 on 2023-12-16 said:
Thanks for the info
blank avatar Hiteshk1 on 2024-01-13 said:
Wow, you got your EAD and Advanced Payrole already. Was it faster than the timeline mentioned on USCIS website?
MandaRose on 2024-01-13 said:
Yes it was! The USCIS website said two more weeks for EAD and 4 more months for AP!
blank avatar Hiteshk1 on 2024-01-16 said:
Great! I had a couple of questions - 1. Did you also submit translated copy of birth certificate? Mine has Hindi and English in it 2. For DS 3025, I have 5 vaccinations with covid remarks. Do I have to go to a doctor for I 693? Did you had to do that 2?
MandaRose on 2024-01-16 said:
We submitted a copy with the overall packet that also contained the I-485 and it also had hindi and english both. If you are within six months of your medical you did for the K1 you don’t have to do a new one. If it has been more than 6 months you will likely have to redo it. We were within the range so did not redo it.
blank avatar Hiteshk1 on 2024-01-19 said:
Thanks for the help. I will be submitting the docs by next week, let see.
MandaRose on 2024-01-19 said:
Good luck! I hope it goes well and without trouble for you!
blank avatar Hiteshk1 on 2024-02-13 said:
Congratulations on your interview date! I also got my biometrics date as 1st March.
MandaRose on 2024-02-13 said:
That’s great! All moving forward ahead then! Wahoo! The biometrics are super fast, almost nothing. We spent longer in line for it than he did doing it!
blank avatar Hiteshk1 on 2024-03-20 said:
I got an email that green card prepocessing has been done and case has been sent to field office. Do you know how much time it took after that till approval of green card? I just got my work permit yesterday, but the job market is not that good, so lets see.
MandaRose on 2024-03-21 said:
It wasn’t long overall for us. Like 100 days from application to approved. Our biometrics were set to be about a month after application (we rescheduled due to travel), and interview a month after that. Good luck with a job! My husband just got hired—today was day 3 for him, he was lucky to land something quickly.
blank avatar Hiteshk1 on 2024-04-11 said:
Yay! My green card was approved today. Do i need to get a new ssn after my ead was approved? If yes, will i get a new number or same number will be used?
blank avatar Hiteshk1 on 2024-04-11 said:
My ead has the DHS authorization condition written
MandaRose on 2024-04-12 said:
If you already have a social security number, you do not need to get a new one UNLESS you are changing your name. Then the number will remain the same, but the name on it will change! A conditional greencard is typical. In two years less 90 days you will apply to renew it and have the conditions lifted!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
