Consulate Review: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : January 12, 2008
Embassy Review : I wanted to post the questions That An was asked yesterday at her Interview and let you know how it went .

arrival= 6:00 am we sat a a coffee shop very close to the consulte drank coffee with An since we arrived early there was allot of parking for our driver then we payed a man to let us stay there until she finshed cost about 10000dong less than a dollar.

Doors open at the Consulte= The doors on the east side of the building opened around 7:00am every one that is doing every visa must go threw these doors and wait in line. This took about 30 minutes for An to get thru this line then she is told to go out in a single file line in front of the Consulte. And they allow one person to go threw the xray machine area at a time. Very slow process.

Security= At the Consulte there is about 4 armed Vietnam Police with Machine Guns all around the Consulte no one is allowed to park or drop off any one on the side of the Consulte . They will not allow anything to take place there very safe. Across the street on the other hand is a whole different place Motorbike men people selling books candy and there is no real place to sit except for the side walk. Once every person is in side people start passing out all sorts of flyers to get you to get plane tickets and help with paper work . Of Course they did not give me any Because I was the only white person there and it was all in Viet.

An said that she was directed to the are where she picks up a number then the tell her to promise to tell the truth. Then there is a large sitting area she takes a seat and waits for the sign to read her number. She waited about 30 minutes she then saw her number come on the screen then proceeded to window 13 where there was a Viet man siting he asked her for all the paper work and Medical Documents this is the most important she says to have all your paper work in order they check it and make her sign a sheet that she was not married before and if she lied in any way she would lose all benfits for the K1 Visa . They gave her back all the documents that they didn't need including her xray of her lungs. Then told her to have a seat and wait for her interview.

Interview= An was interviewed at window number 7 I call that Lucky number 7. She was interviewed by a White American Lady . She came up to the window and the CO said hello and An said Hello back then she asked An fingerprinted then she proceeded in questions to An (of course this was all done in English) An tells me she was very professional and very sweet. Here is the Questions that An was asked and in the order that the Co asked them.
-When was the first time you meet your fiance?
-How did you meet him? Where?
-Why did he go to the Vietnamese dating website to find a wife ? Did you see his profile ? (she thought that we meet on a Internet Dating site But We did Not so An Made sure she understood that)
-You email him first or he?
-What did you and him talk to each other at the first time ? ( He asked me if I know how to speak English then She told the Co that is the reason why he Liked me because I speak English. ( Funny Question I thought))
-What did you study in your university? (English )
-Why do you stop going school ? (because you fall in love right ? ) (CO words An did not have do anything except smile on this question.) She then told the Co thats right ,I Love him so much and they both Laughed.
-What will you do when you are in America ? . Be a wife Then go to School and find a job to help My Fiancee
-Does he speak vietnamese ? Yes some words. Because Viet very hard to learn . The Co replied Yes I Understand that (the Co knew Viet)
-Does his family come to your engagement ceremony ? Why not?
-Do you have any relatives in the Us ? Do they come to your party ? Yes Uncle but he did not come to our party.
-What is his job ? How is his job right now? Does he has any plan about his job in future ?
-can you show me the evidences about your relationship ? Yes of Course An had allot of evidence to show her but An just chose the photos first . She only had to show the photos (NO emails,No Chats No Phone records were need to my surprise )
-Do you have any trip around Vietnam with him? An replied that she only took me around her Province Because her Parents were worried about my Safety in Vietnam. Co said she understands
-Where did you go ? Temple the Mountain.........
-Let me see the photos of your engagement ceremony .
-Who is in this photo ?
After that a Vietnamese women came over to my window, and She looked the Co and the Co looked at each other ,the CO said that An speak English ,they both smiled and brought An the pink slip. An looked at the pink slip very close because of our friend that had an interview on the 9th he told us they made a mistake on his so she was prepared to look at it close .Then everything was correct .An did asked the Vietnamese lady if there was anyway that she can Let her pick up the Visa Early because I was Scheluded to Leave Vietnam on the 22nd of this month. (The orignal day was the 31st on the pink slip) Co overheard conversation and told her to wait a minute came back and told her to come back in one week and she could pick up the visa. overall rating very good consulte was very nice to An and professional to her.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
