We had a lag between receiving the Packet 3 and sending back because we were waiting for the HRR waiver before we were allowed to send back. After we sent it back, we received Packet 4 two days later with an interview date of 6 days after. The consulate was booked solid and they did not want my fiance to wait even though he had not yet receivved the medical.
The visa would have been issued sooner, but the consulate had to wait for the medical packet to arrive, once it did, we received the visa in 6 days. |

My fiance was the last to go through the line. The customs officer was rude and basically shoved him off to the next person that was more friendly. Apparently the first officer came back over and looked at some of the pictures of me and commented on me. My fiance was not impressed, but Seattle is known for having cranky officials. They asked minimal questions and stuck to the facts. |

The Portland office was wonderful, everyone was extremely nice. We arrived at 8:00 for our 8:30 appt. We did wait a while but discovered it was because we there was really no order to how they pick you to interview. Basically you walk up to a waiting room, put your interview letter in a wall box and they come up and grab them out of the box and call whoever they grabbed. Just a tip, make sure that your paper is up close because they have no real order, so we waited 30 minutes longer than we should have. Once we got into the officers office, she had us swore to tell the truth, we did, then sat down and proceeded. She had a list of mandatory questions she had to ask my husband, which were the same as what you are asked when you apply for AOS (is he involved in illegal activity, etc). Then she asked us how we met, if I am working at the same place, where we live, if we have kids, about our wedding, times we saw eachother, etc. She had a big file already, but only wanted to see his passport, work permit and AP and my drivers license. She looked through the few items that we had with our names on them together like, bank statement, car loan paperwork, etc and stopped me when I was reaching to provide more because we had good evidence. She said that she will approve it today and we should get the green card in the next 2-3 weeks because they have a faster system. She took his I-94 from the passport, work permit and AP. She was very pleasant. My recommendations, always have more than you need because they can ask for anything they want even if they have it. Be nice, follow instructions and make sure you have what they requested. Keep it organized and good luck! |

We applied for EAD, AP and AOS at the same time.
7/16/08 we received a notice on July 9th, that card production was ordered and the same exact message on the 14th, then on the 16th they sent a message on CRIS that approval was sent. Card arrived 7/17, we believe card was actually sent on the 14th. |

Easy interview. Had to wait about 40 minutes until the interviewer asked us to come back. We had PLENTY of evidence. Within 15 minutes of her asking about how we met, etc and asking basic questions, nothing tricky, she told us we were approved and said the green card would be ordered. She was very very nice! |
