Like most of the other reviews, I enjoyed the experience.
Received an email the friday before the monday interview to inform us that I required to provide an Australia Post Pre-Paid express post packet.
Attended only 15min prior to appointment time. I had been to Brisbane the week before for my medical and had to wash my hands due to the visit. Sanitise, then attend a 'pre-interview' where an officer will go through your paperwork and put it in a seperate folder. I dumped my phone and sunglasses into a small bag and given a receipt for it.
Headed into an elevator up to the next level where I took a number and was called up straight away. However this 1st call was just to take fingerprints and hand over your documents that were pre-sorted for you. Take a seat again, before being called up for the interview.
My interview took around 10min.
I was asked how we had met, and what plans have we made for the wedding. That was it.
My medical certificates had not been delivered at the time, and so I was formally refused until the medical papers arrived. They kept my passport to issue the visa once the medical had arrived.
3x days went past and I received an email stating that they had made a mistake by handing me back the original Police Check document, and that the visa could not be issued until I posted the original document to them. (This is the reason I am not giving them the 5 stars rating) |

Timeline Comments: 9Emailed NVC in October - They gave us the NVC number. Still yet to hear anything further.
Received email stating Visa is in Transit to embassy. 09/12/2020
December 18th - email from Sydney Embassy asking for Name, case number, email, DS-160, MRV receipt number. Interviews commencing late January
Booked interview for 25th January 2021.
Email received from the embassy, stating that they had made a mistake and not taken the original police check form from my paperwork at the time of the interview. My Visa is now held up until they receive it. I express posted it today, hoping it arrives next week.
Hi Congratulation on making it to the US to be with your partner.
My partner will be travelling next week from Melbourne and I wonder if you can share your experience on the flight?
Who did you fly with and how crowded was it?
Also, did you buy health insurance?
Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks
Gday Sheeni,
I flew ‘United’ and they were good. Less than 20 people on the flight, had lots of empty rows. I made sure to allow plenty of time in my lay over city as I knew Border Control would go through all my bags (2hrs)
My partner in US had arranged my insurance through her work, and I made sure to pay the extra travel insurance protection, with my luggage etc.
Thanks for the feedback! We have the same plan with insurance, but won't be able to kick start it until I have the marriage license and with Covid we want to be extra careful.
Oh btw, what type of proof of negative COVID result did you travel with? I see some rampant discussion about paper result, sms result, private GP etc.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
