Comments : My appointment was scheduled at 7:30 am. I arrived around 7:05 am since it was only a 5 min walk from the hotel. As I arrived, 4 other people had been already waiting there. As I walked up, someone from the embassy was standing there and he asked me for the purpose of my visit. After I had told him that I was here for my K1 visa interview, he directed me to the second row of the seating area. I waited for roughly 5 minutes before I got to the window where they verified my appointment and gave me a number. Next, I had to go through security, which was pretty easy and quick. After passing security, I walked to the next building where the actual interview has happened. When I entered the building, I found myself in a big hall that indeed gives you a feeling that you are in a train station. I walked up to the front desk where a lady was standing behind it, she gave me a piece of paper with instructions and directed me to the very last window of the hall. Since it wasn't 7:30 yet, the Windows were still closed. Therefore, I sat down for another 15 minutes before they opened the window. At that window, I only got asked for my passport. Afterwards, I had to sit down again and wait to be called to another window. It only took 5 minutes until I was called to the next window. The lady behind it was very nice and just verified my documents. I was told to sit down again and wait to be called to another window where the actual interview will happen. I had to wait for another 30 minutes to be called to my interview. The person behind the window was very nice. I had to swear in, give my fingerprints, and the initial interview started.

I was asked pretty much the standard questions:

How did you both meet?
Who proposed to who?
Where and when will you get married?
Where will you live?

After the interview I was told that I will receive my passport, as well as, the sealed package within the next 7-10 days.

Overall, everyone was very nice and the interview went very smooth.

How did you know when the consulate received your visa?

My boyfriend got an email notification. If you don't get one, you can estimate that it can take anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks to get there, depending on how fast the mail is.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
