Comments : Originally submitted mid-June but was rejected and returned to us late-July. This turned out to be a lucky event as we were able to then re-file without the I-944. (update, i guess it's required again
wonder if we will get another RFE or be required to bring it to the interview).
Update Nov/Dec '20 -- yep, we got RFE for i944 ha.

RFE sent to us on 9/14/2020 : for Birth Certificate. We sent Birth Certificate and translation with original submission (I did the translation myself). Decided to just pay for a translation service since I don't know what I could have done wrong or why the Birth Certificate was re-requested. USCIS received our RFE response on 9/28.

2nd RFE in Nov 2020. They received our response 12-30-2020.

Note: After Biden took office, I944 now no longer required again. What a sad, unnecessary delay in our case heh

Consulate Review: Juarez, Mexico
Review Topic: General Review
Event Description
Review Date : March 6, 2020
Embassy Review : I flew into El Paso, TX and walked across the border into Juarez on a Sunday. My fiance had his medical exam on Monday, CAS appointment on Tuesday, and interview on Wednesday.

Medical exam: The exam at SMF was scheduled for 10:00am and they provided free transportation to the facility. We just called them and gave them our address and they came to pick us up. My fiance was inside for 3.5 hours and I waited outside since I couldn't go in. There is a waiting area (indoor and outdoor area) with bathrooms and vending machines. Price of the exam plus required vaccinations cost a bit over $400 USD.

CAS biometrics appointment: 1:50pm, My fiance was able to go in early and was out within 20-30 minutes.

Interview: Was at 8:00am and my fiance was inside for 4.5 hours. The wait was excruciating. There are people waiting outside near the embassy, on the pedestrian bridge, across the street. My fiance told me when he finally interviewed that they only asked one question (How did you meet?) and that was it. They didn't ask for any other documentation (not even the affidavit of support) so that was super strange. We can't figure out why they didn't ask for any documentation or ask any more questions. But we took the approval happily.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
