Comments : Initiated Medical Exam on Sep 7, 2018, but Physician detected lung nodules, so required additional Tuberculosis Sputnum/Phelgm testing for 3 consecutive days. The results will take 8 weeks to process, which means we have to miss our Sep 25, 2018 immigration CR1 interview date scheduled by NVC/Consulate because 8 weeks to get medical results. After 8 weeks, physician will notify GUZ embassy of results, then GUZ will reschedule a new interview date for us. Picked up Med. exam results on Nov 22, 2018. Recieved email notification from GUZ on Nov 19 that GUZ has scheduled a CR1 interview date for us on Nov 29, 2018. We can't make this one, so we definitely have to re-schedule a new date. Originally, after missed Sep 25 interview, NVC send us Email instructions to schedule interview online website (https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/) on Sep 27 (they later tell us to ignore Sep 27 on Nov 19). On Nov 19, GUZ called my wife via cellphone to tell her to ignore Sep 27 online instructions, and they set up Nov 29 as new interview date because they recieve physician Sputnum test result notification on Nov 19 (8 weeks after Sep 20-ish medical exam test). However, we can't attend Nov 29 either, so I emailed them asking how to change date. On Nov 23, they replied I can change Nov 29 scheduled interview date to another date by using Sep 27 instructions via online website. So I used online website (https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/) to schedule Dec 4, 2018. Therefore, I schedule Airline tickets to SH from BOS, also GUZ on Nov 24... everything paid for. Then they email us on Nov 25-26 saying we have to cancel Dec 4 online appt, follow Nov 29 NVC appointed interview date, then after miss Nov 29 date they will schedule a new date for us. So much anger and confusion, then embassy call JJ on Nov 28 (day before Nov 29), reassure that everything's okay, they will schedule Dec 4 for us. On Nov 29, email confirmation for Dec 4 (original online scheduled date). Lucky for us because Dec 5, Bush Prez died, so all embassy world wide cancelled/closed down.

Port of Entry : Boston
POE Date : 2019-01-15
Got EAD Stamp : No
Biometrics Taken : Yes
Harassment Level : 0
Comments : Boston Port of Entry (POE), very smooth, less than 3 mins, she went into visitor lane and they opened her medical report. didn't even look at vaccination records, no questions asked really. Stamped with CR1 stamp, but it had no date underneath it.

Got I551 Stamp :
Green Card Received : 2022-03-26
Comments : My service center is "MSC" (Missouri Service Center (National Benefits Center). With regards to biometric appointment, it was fast, 15 mins, no questions asked about application. Just photograph and fingerprints.

Submitted I-751 application on 1/14/2021. On 2/23/2021, received notice extending expired conditional residence green card by 18 months. Recieved RFE request on 11/02/2021 due to "Late Filing" (6 days late) because misunderstanding on "Postmark vs. Received date". Submitted RFE response on 11/13/22. On 12/13/2021, received a notice extending greencard by 24 months instead of earlier 18 months (likely due to RFE delay).

On 2/10/2022, received a notice setting the lifting conditions interview date for 3/21/2022.

For the lifting conditions interview (3/21/2022), I attended along with my wife. One interviewer asking both of us questions. Sometimes interviewer asked my wife only, sometimes asked me. I brought along tons of updated photos/credit card/banking statements/tax returns/new evidence that was new to the application between now and since it was first submitted in 2021 over a year ago. Very basic questions like, name, date of birth, birth location, residence address, and seeing if our response matched the application. How long you live in that building? Any Recent travel? Where did you guys meet? What graduate degree was she studying for? What is the topic of her dissertation? Where are your parents located? Have you visited the native country recently? How long you live in US? Pretty generic questions.

My advice is, only bring updated new evidence, no need to re-print old stuff. They have your entire application (very thick) and will return any old stuff. They will take the new stuff and incorporate it into their document. The entire thing is recorded apparently lol. We had our face-coverings on since pandemic was not over, but the interviewer did not have face-covering. My wife needed to take off her mask once for photograph to verify identity. Interviewer also photocopied our passports/IDs. Asked us if we have any questions.

We later checked our Reciept number on the 'Case Status' website. It said: "Sending new card to your address", so basically within the same day, it was approved! Yay, so excited.

Consulate Review: Guangzhou, China
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : December 10, 2018
Embassy Review : My wife's immigration interview. I flew to Guangzhou but could not accompany her inside consulate (they don't allow petitioner like me to enter, only beneficiary)
This is off-the-top of my head, as much info I can spew out.

You can't bring anything, cellphones, electronics, bags, etc... into consulate. Only documents. Very strict. You have to arrive within 30 min of scheduled interview time, or else they cancel you.

Make sure you have original copies of items on the Pre-interview checklist, they will ask for it, and keep it. Literally, out of the 1.5 hours I spent waiting, like 80% of the time was document processing, ensuring you have the right documents, birth certs, marriage cert, police records, medical exams, etc...Interview lasted less than 10 minutes, while I heard from others it takes 10-15 minutes usually.

NOTE: You must have a completed medical exam before visa interview. We had to skip our first CR1 interview in GUZ due to medical exam results delayed (+8 weeks due to additional tuberculosis testing via Sputnum/Phelgm spit test which delayed it 8 weeks). Only after GUZ recieves physician notification of medical results, will ONLY THEY can schedule a new interview for you. Also, it's only after you miss your scheduled interview do they allow you to reschedule, and not via their website if you have special case of medical report results.

Types of questions asked:
1. where did you each other?
2. how did you meet each other?
3. how long have you dated before proposal/engagement?
4. have you met your spouse's parents?
5. where and when did you get married?
6. how many people attend the marriage ceremony?
7. What does your husband's job? (also asks for Affadavit of Support & Tax documents, hands it over)
8. Are you a Communist Party Member?
9. Other generic topics about education, background.

It apparently was like bank counter-style, a row of 6 counters with glass separating you and interviewer, you are literally standing next to other immigrant visa interviewees and interviewers, you can hear them while waiting in line (close to counter). It wasn't a one-on-one private room, it was like a row of counters where interviewers asked questions like bank-counter style. They Mando, Canto, and English upon request.

Interview lasted like 10 minutes. She left her passport, they will add CR1 visa stamp, and send it back within 2 weeks. GUZ email contact is very responsive. They are quick to respond and helpful while I was figuring out my wife's medical exam results (delayed 8 weeks for additional tuberculsosi TB testing) and figuring out interview dates/reschedule.

HELPFUL HINT: Have everything printed with extra copies before you go to Guangzhou. The printer shops next door charger 1 RMB per page (2RMB per page if less than 10 pages) so if you have hundreds of pages, it costs lots of money. So have all documents printed or copied beforehand at home.

Hi AdeelNaz, Our Sputnum + Pheglm test took 8 weeks to finish. So for example, Sep 19,20,21 (3 days of sputnum test), then the Shanghai hospital called my wife on Nov 19 (about 8 weeks later, or 2 months) to let her know her results (no TB problem). Then Shanghai hospital called the Guangzhou consultate on Nov 20 to let them know I am ready to be scheduled a new interview date. On Nov 20, the Guz consultate called my wife, let her know the new interview date for Nov 29. I also got an email notification the same day. I hope that answers your question. For your Affdavit of support question:, what documents do you need? You need your "Tax Return Transcript" for the last 3 years, which you can find by going here: https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript For example, I got my 2017, 2016, and 2015 "Tax Return Transcript" from online IRS website, I printed it out. Affadavit of Support also requires your W-2 tax forms too. Which Embassy are your using? If you can tell me which consultate, I can give you more specific details about what documents they need for Affdavit of Support.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
