Consulate Review: United Arab Emirates
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : May 4, 2016
Embassy Review : I (Petitioner) traveled to Abu Dhabi to be with my fiancee during the interview process. The interview was scheduled for 8AM on Thursday, April 28th. We arrived at the embassy around 6:45am and found a lot of people already waiting in line. There were two lines: Immigrant visa and Non-Immigrant visa.

The security guard instructed some ladies that big purses were not allowed inside, so some had to go put it in their cars. At 7:30am, they called all the immigrant visa cases, we went to the window and submitted our appointment letter. I was not allowed in (expected).

My fiancee later said that she went inside, took a number and waited for some time. When her number was called, she came up to the window, submitted all the documents (Passport, DS-156K, Medical, Police reports, Affidavit of Support) and fingerprints. The gentleman asked for visa fee (which we paid online upon scheduling appointment). My fiancee showed him the receipt (MAKE SURE TO BRING PROOF OF PAYMENT). Then she was asked to wait more.

When her name was called for interview, she entered a small booth and met with a very nice lady. She asked her 3 questions only (how we met, how often do we see each other, and if she promises to marry within 90 days of entering US). My Fiancee mentioned that I was outside waiting, the CO nodded with approval... so maybe that was a good idea.

The CO gave her a pink slip and told her to pick up the visa on May 4th. She was out by 10:45am
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
