Event Description

Embassy Review : I attended the interview in Moscow with my fiance. Overall, it was fairly easy, with a 15 minute wait outside the consulate before proceeding through security and up to the first window. From there we were directed to window 5 for the interview which was upstairs with a small full waiting room of approximately 30 people. This was the window for immigrant visa interviews, and from there we waited almost two hours before my fiance was called for her interview (she had the biometrics taken during that timeframe). At the time of the interview there were only three or four peopple left which all seemed to be of the K1 type (maybe they save these for the end), and all were nice people, but I was the only US citizen there. Anyway, my fiance's interview was conducted in English with me within earshot. The questions were brief, and they did ask about her previous unsuccessful attempts at a visitor visa, but all went well, and the officer welcomed her to the US after 5 minutes or so. We were both extremely happy, and I was so glad I was there with her!
Rating : Very Good

POE Review: Detroit
Event Description

Embassy Review : My wife and I came back from visit to Rusiia via Beijing. This was my wife's first re-entry on her Green Card, and we were surprised to find that Detroit had gone to electronic kiosks. My wife scanned her GC, and her fingerprints, and the kiosk took a photo, then I did the same minus the fingerprints with my passport and we then receive receipts to take to an officer who asked us a few basic questions regarding the length of trip and where we were at, etc. the whole process took about 5 minutes with at least three planes arriving.

Embassy Review : We had a 10am interview scheduled for my wife. After going through security and checking in (they still hadn't updated their clock for DST at the front desk), we went to the big waiting area. After about 30 minutes my wife's name was called and we met the interviewer and went back to her office. She started with the swearing in then began verifying the basic 485 information. My wife was quite nervous, but she relaxed after the interviewer started going through all the 485 yes/no questions. I could see her start to smile and settle down. She asked us how we met and let me tell the story, but my wife added a lot. She asked for additional information that was not in the original 485 submission, so we gave her my step-son's birth certificate (copy) along with the translation, several photos, insurance information, bank statements, and latest income tax forms. Overall everything went well. She made a copy of my wife's EAD card, then handed us a no decision notice, but explained everything appeared in order, she just needed time to review the entire package in detail. I am not sure how much time ahead they have to review these forms and evidence. Regardless, it seemed positive when she went over the fact that we were applying for a conditional GC and we would have to go through the 751 process I a little less than two years. Anyway, we parted in good spirits. Two days later we received the report that my wife was approved.

One other note for those heading to the Detroit office, if you are coming from the North, don't follow the GPS when you get in the city, take 75/375 down to East Jefferson and go over from there. The neighborhoods my GPS took me through were not very nice looking.

All in all a very good experience, nice office, and friendly staff.
Harassment Level : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
