Consulate Review: Bogota, Colombia
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : August 9, 2013
Embassy Review : After the embassy got our packet from nvc they emailed the beneficiary packets 3 and 4. After paying the $240 visa fee she made an appointnent online. There were many options from ten days out to over a month. We set it for a month out and worked on finalizing our paperwork. She called doctor Dennis the next day and set an appointment for two days before the k1 interview. The medical is split into two parts. First a blood and x ray taken at a clinic that is only open m-f 7-10am. We got there are 630 and there was already a line. Get there early! The second appointment was with the doctor in the afternoon. He went over basic medical questions. At te doctors office they have us an extra copy of the immunization sheet and X-ray. She would recommend the doctor. Although his office was hard to find as its in a medical center that is large. Again get there early.

She had a 730 am interview. We arrived at 7 and proceeded to gate three outside the embassy. It had no line compared to the other numbers. At the gate someone have us a paper that laid out the required documents and how to order them. We handed him the required information. He flipped through it and handed it back and told us to continue through security. Once through k visas are administered at a different window from the other windows. They will direct you. They review your packet in two stages. The first person my fiancé spoke to tool her papers had her sign them and made sure it was all filled out. After the initial approval they have you sit by the coffee stand and you wait. After 20-30 min They called her name over the loudspeaker which is hard to hear. At the window was the consular officer and I was allowed to approach unlike earlier. He was typing a lot and asked a few basic questions. Where you meet. What does he do. He was very nice but did speak fast and did not leave much time for thinking. Also we brought with us more evidence o a relationship but he never asked for it. I guess being there and out initial packet was good enough. We were out at 845. 😀

Please see my fiancées write up here Hola!!!! VISA APROBADA!!!!!! estamos felices!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
