Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : March 5, 2014
Embassy Review : I had my interview last March 4, 2014 and my Fiance was with me.

We went to the embassy at around 5:30am. When we got there, I rented a chair for 30php (my fiance just stood up, he doesn't want to sit down hehe) and I was 6th in line. We waited for around 45minutes then the security guard called us up to line up near the tent(there's a separate line for each type of visa). So at the tent, there were USEM staff checking the DS-160, Appointment Confirmation and the Passport. When it was my turn, the staff asked if I'm done with the medical exam so I said yes then she checked my DS-160, Appointment Confirmation Page and Passport. She attached a sticker with a bar code and my name on it at the back of my passport then she placed my passport on a zip-lock bag and instructed me to get in. so my fiance entered the door for US Citizens and I entered the other door. There's a security check like the ones at the airport (make sure you don't have any electronic devices and other stuffs that are prohibited). After the security check, there's I think 4 windows to where you'll show your DS-160 and Appt Confirmation then they'll give you your queue number with an attachment to what are the documents you should prepare for the interview and also give you an instruction to drop off you DS-160 and Appt. Confirmation to window 39. I lined up at Window 2 and my lucky number was 6098. So we entered another building and there's another security check. After the security check, there's an embassy staff who gathers the DS-160 and Appt confirmation. So I gave it to her instead of dropping it off to window 39. We took a seat and waited for our number to flash at the queue board. The numbers showing at the queue board are at random so don't freak out if a higher number flashes before yours. So the queue board shows the number of the applicant and at the right side, is the number of the window you'll be going. I think it took 30minutes and my number was flashed at the board so I went to window 43 for the fingerprinting. The guy who took my fingerprints asked what's my number, my full name and birth date and instructed me to place my 4 left fingers on the scanner then the 4 right fingers and the last was 2 thumbs. After that, it's waiting time again...

after an hour and a half..... my number flashed, me and my fiance went to window 52. It's an interview with a Filipina Consul. I was a bit nervous because I heard her interviewing an applicant and she was strict (maybe because she doubts the applicant's answers). Anyway, so she greeted me good morning and I responded back then she asked for my passport. then started interviewing me and my fiance.

questions asked from me:
1. my full name
2. how did we meet and what website
3. when did we meet
4. date we officially became a couple
5. when was the first time we saw each other
6. have i traveled abroad

questions asked from my fiance:
1. When did he arrive
2. How many times he visited me
3. Is he married before
4. How many kids does he have
4. What's his job

She was amazed when she knew my fiance's a chef and asked what's his specialty and my fiance answered "Asian-American Cuisine" then she said, "wow! I like that! but we're not allowed to accept anything" and she laughs. After that conversation, she asked for my Visa Payment Receipt, Birth Certificate, CENOMAR, NBI Clearance, I-134, my Fiance's 2013 ITR and W-2. Then she confirmed my contact numbers if I still use them and as well as my email address. She asked me if I have brought our pictures together. After scanning the album, she asked us to sit down and wait for our queue number again for the final interview.

waited for about an hour, our number flashed and we went to window 59... the final judgement!

The American Consul looks so serious and a bit intimidating.. He greeted me good morning and instructed me to raise my right hand and read the oath posted at the right side of the window.

questions asked from me:
1. Petitioner's full name
2. How did we meet and what website

me and my fiance met in an online poker game in the iPhone so he said "oh so you guys play poker.. who wins?" and he asked us "so when you guys play, you could see the faces of other players?" so my fiance explained to him that you have to create a profile and it's up to you if you'll upload your picture. then the consul asked me "so what's your impression when you first saw his picture?" (with a grin on his face) then I answered "of course, he's handsome" then we laughed. He also asked the same question to my fiance then my fiance told him "that's the problem, I keep on losing the game because her picture is distracting me so I can't concentrate" the consul laughs again. then he scanned our pictures (the ones sent by my fiance along with the I-129F) and saw a picture wherein me and my fiance were wearing a couple shirt with a cute heart design then he asked us "so you guys have matching shirts. who's idea is this?" my fiance was very quick to answer and said "it's hers. oh c'mon man, you think it's my idea?" the consul said "it's the most honest answer i got today" (while laughing) then he scans our papers and said "Alright, I'm going to approve you guys." He stamps our paper and that's it! no pressure on the interview hahahaha

After that we took a seat and we waited for our number. Our number flashed after 15minutes and went to window 73 for the pick up location of my visa. And the guy gave me back the appointment confirmation page and it has a stamp on it and said we are done with everything and go home.

we were done at 10:30am.

To God Be The Glory!

Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
