First of all, I want to thank God, my fiance, my family, friends and Visa Journey for helping me on the K1 Visa process.
I had my K1 Visa interview yesterday, October 3, 2012, 7:30am. It was a rainy morning. I arrived at the US Embassy Manila at around 7:00am, not that early I know but I was lucky that there are only 3 of us in the line. But I suggest to be there at least 45 minutes before your appointment time.
There were vendors outside asking if I have things not allowed inside the embassy such as cellphones, electronic gadgets, USB, camera and battery. So make sure you don't have those things in your bag or else you will not be allowed entry and you will have to reschedule your interview.
I saw also some celebrities like Kim Chiu, Maja Salvador, Rayver, Pokwang and Erich at the Tourist Visa queue line.
Anyways, I went to the Immigrants/ Fiance queue line which is just outside the embassy. A Filipina checker will ask for your appointment letter, current passport and the filled up DS forms (2 copies of DS 156 and DS 157 and 1 copy of DS 156K). She stapled them all together and removed the attachments (answers to question #s 9 and 12) of the DS 157 form. I suggest that you paste your 2x2 pictures already on the 2 DS 156 form.
On that line, she should put barcode on the back of my passport but there was problem on the barcode so she told me to proceed already to gate 2 and have my passport barcode there. But the guard in Gate 2 told me to Gate 3 instead.
SO I went to Gate 3 (with the heavy door) for the security check. Then I ask the guard where I should go next. He told me to go the ticket booth near the Kodak station. At the ticket booth, the filipina checker ask for my name and birthdate and she asked me the stapled DS forms and appointment letter. Upon checking, she returned it to me with the stapled number assigned to me (my lucky number is 6105). She also gave me a copy of the number. This will be your number for the finger scanning, Filipino Consul and American Consul interviews. Pls. ensure that your passport has barcode at the back with your name. The checker gave me a ziplock bag and instruct me to put my passport with the biopage opened. She also told me to drop the stapled forms at the Window 39.
I ask the gusrd nearby where to go next and told me to go inside to another heavy door for a security check up again. From there, I went to Window 39 to drop the stapled DS forms and appointment letter. Hold on to your passport, dont drop it at Window 39.
There were filipina checkers scattered around the waiting area who gives instructions and guidance to the immigrants. I was instructed to sit and wait for the monitor to flash my number for the first step which is the finger scanning. After 10 minutes, my number was flashed on the screen. Your number will be flashed on the screen 4 times only so be attentive.
At the finger scanning, the filipina checker asked me to show my number (your copy of the number) and for my complete name and birthdate. Your left 4 fingers will be scanned first followed by your right 4 fingers. Last to scan are your thumbs. After that I was told to sit and wait again for my number to be flashed on the screen for the Filipino consul interview. This is the long wait. After almost 2 hours, my number was flashed on the screen to window 54.
At the Window 54, the Filipino Consul asked for my complete name and birthdate. She also asked for your original NSO certified Birth certificate, Cenomar and NBI clearance. I was also asked to give her the signed original form I 134 of my fiance together with the supporting income documents. My fiance sent me his 2009 to 2011 ITR (1040) and W2, COE and 5 months payslips. He organized it in a binder with a coverletter so I just gave it all to the Filipina checker. She asked me a few questions:
Who is your petitioner?
What is his birthdate?
What is his address in the US?
What is his contact number and my contact number?
When was the last time I saw my fiance?
How many times did he visited me?
She asked if I bring our pictures together so I show her the album I prepared. She browsed on them and returned them to me but she did not asked any questions. She asked me to put the estimated date of intended arrival to US on the DS 156 form. And also asked me to sign the lower portion of DS 156K.
Then she said that my fiance was born here in Manila, Philippines and she asked me how and why he is now in the US. She was satisfied with my answer and asked me to sit again and wait for my number to be flashed on the screen for the American consul interview. The first interview last for less than 5 minutes.
After 20 minutes, my number was flashed again on the screen. I went to window 59 and the American consul who is nice and pleasant greeted me a smile and ask me hows my day. He asked if my English was ok and I said yes. Then asked me to raise my right hand and swear to tell only the truth. He also scanned again my left thumb finger.
The filipino consul browse on my DS forms and the form I 129F which my fiance initially submitted in USCIS. He also browse on the pictures attached to the I 129F, and said that he went to Gilligans also and that he likes sisig. Then he asked if I find my fiance handsome. Of course I said a big YES! hehehe...=)
He asked the following questions:
How did we met?
When is our first meeting?
When was the last time I saw my fiance?
How many times did my fiance visited me?
What is his work designation?
What is my work designation?
I told him that my fiance is an audit manager and that I work as an accounting manager. Then he said what a nice combination. =)
After that, he told me that he find our documents all good and in order and that my visa is APPROVED! Yheey! I flashed the biggest smile ever.
He asked mo to sit and wait again for the VISA releasing instruction. The interview with the american consul also last less than 5 minutes.
After 5 minutes, my number was flashed on window 72. The guy there asked me the american consul had scanned my left thumb finger. I said yes. And then he handed me my stamped appointment letter and said that I can go home now and just wait for 2GO text message to pick up my VISA. There will be instruction on the VISA regarding the required CFO seminar which I need to attend and have sticker on my passport before I can leave the country.
It's still raining outside but I dont mind...I'm in cloud 9 and still smiling and thankful. |
