Nid flew to Bangkok several days before her interview and spent the nights at a friend’s house. She hadn’t received her police certificate yet and tried to get a copy the day before her interview with no luck. They told her she might be able to get at 6:30 am the morning of her interview. We discussed the situation over the phone and decided the best course was to skip the certificate and go directly to the embassy.
She arrived at the embassy around 6:30 am for her appointment. There were approximately 40 other people in line for various visas. At 7 am, a staff member came out and brought all the K-1 and K-3 applicants into the embassy. After clearing security, Nid submitted her paperwork at Window 6 and paid her EMS fee of 350 Baht.
Nid was interviewed around 10:30 as there were 3 K-3 and 2 K-1 applicants in front of her.

Nid had to show a photo of us having dinner with her family from her copy of the I-129 packet. The man thanked her and said she did very good, but he could not issue her a visa without the police certification. He told her once she received the certificate, to mail it to the embassy along with her passport and she would receive her visa.
Nid was able to get the certificate from the police at 3 pm. She mailed it and her passport to the embassy via registered mail before she caught her flight back to Chiang Mai that evening.

Our flight arrived at 8:30 am. As we entered immigration I asked if we could go through the immigration line together. One of the staff directed us to the far end of the room once I told her Nid was a 1st time immigrant. We had to wait approx 30 minutes since that particular desk is not manned. Once the officer arrived, we gave him Nid's paperwork and both our passports. It took around 5-10 minutes to process the paperwork. The officer was very cordal to work with. All in all a plesant experience. |
