Thought I would add my experience =)
I arrived at the embassy 15 minutes before my scheduled appointment time. Outside the first entrance was a woman who asked to see my DS-160 confirmation and my passport. After she checked those, I went through the airport-style security entrance and walked up to the main building. In this main building were two lines of people queuing with a big reception desk up at the end. I had read from others reviews that with a K1 visa application you skip the line and go straight up to the reception desk. I felt a bit conspicuous doing that as everyone else was waiting patiently, but it was indeed the right thing to do, as the receptionist said yes, K1 applicants do go right through. She asked to see my interview confirmation email and passport, and then gave them back to me with a number sticker on my confirmation page.
I then proceeded to the lifts and went up to the 1st floor, walked along to the left after exiting the lift, and then turn left again around the corner. There was no one else in the K1 area around here so I was called straight up to a woman behind a partition. She took my fingerprints and then asked me for my documents: passport, passport photo, birth certificate, police certificate (i'd recommend getting a free subject access report from ACRO in advance aswell if you have a 'no live trace' as she did ask if I had brought one. Luckily I had pre-emptied this and got one). She then asked for my I-134 forms - I had one from my fiancé as well as his mum who was our co-sponsor, so I gave both. Tax transcripts from them both. And then she asked if I had brought W2's but I hadn't, however she said that was okay. She then had me sit back down until my number was called again.
I only waited a few minutes as no one else was there, and got called up to another partition with a different lady who was friendly but to the point. She took my fingerprints again, and had me swear an oath. She then proceeded to ask me:
How had I met my fiancé?
Had either of us been married before?
Did either of us have any children?
What was his job?
What did I plan to do for education/work over there?
Did we have any wedding plans?
She then proceeded to tell me that that was my visa approved! Then handed me a card and told me it should take about a week, and that was it.
The entire process from stepping in the building, to leaving, was only 27 minutes! Very easy and straightforward experience
