Review Topic: K1 Visa

My interview went pretty fast. Took us around 2.5 hours to get in and get out. Waiting in line takes longer than the interview itself but everything inside is organized and people were very helpful. Below is my interview experience with my 2 K2s.

We got our visa approved today. I want to share my experience for those who will have their interviews soon and as a way of me giving back to this wonderful community.

I have a tourist visa before so I’m a bit familiar on how things go inside the USEM Manila. Here's my tourist visa experience last 2016:

We arrived around 5:30 am. There are people who will offer you chairs for P30 each. There are also people who will offer services to print your photo or DS160 if you still don’t have one. There are people selling pens. Don’t buy pens, you don’t have anything to sign inside the building. Lines were divided per schedule, if people who are renting chairs told you stand up early, DON’T. You will still need to stand up longer. They just want you to stand up so they can rent the chairs to other people. I have my 2 K2s with me and my mom to hold my phone while we’re inside. No phones, electronics or anything with batteries allowed inside. People there ask for P300 if you want them to keep your phone. They will also ask for your valid ID if you want to leave your phone with them.

Around 5:45 am, people started lining up to enter the building per schedule. There’s a lot of people today since some that were scheduled last January 14 were rescheduled to come today. Lines for immigrant visas is for Line 3 while lines for non-immigrant visas were in Line 1. They asked for our passports and DS160 and put a barcode on mine, the main beneficiary.

We entered the building around 6:15am. Always have your DS160 handy whenever. You need this in every step.

From there, groups were divided based on the barcode sticker that they put on your DS160 for pre-screening (A, B, C, D). The pre-screening area were almost full before 7:00am I can hear the ushers telling the guard to stop entry until further notice.

Requirements asked for PRE-SCREENING:
• PSA Birth Certificates
• CENOMAR
• NBI
• I-134 from Petitioner
• I-864 from Sponsor
• 2018 W2 and IRS

After pre-screening will be the fingerprint scanning (Window 51 and 52). After scanning, you will be ushered to the final interview area. Barcodes that end in 1,3,5,7 and 9 will be on the left side and the rest will be on the right side. A lot of people were given 221g before me. I can hear the consuls asked for the following: LCR and other papers for late registered birth certificates, divorce decree, CENOMAR and NBI with AKA, updated PSA copies and CENOMAR.

For final interview, I was at Window 56. My consul was an American girl that’s a bit chubby but cute. They just asked my K2s their names and birthdays. For me, she asked me to do an oath before we start the actual interview. Questions asked.

• What’s your fiancé’s name?
• What’s his work?
• How did we meet?
• How many times did we meet?
• How many times did he visit me?
• What’s my work?
• What are the countries I visited in the last 5 years?
• How many times did I travel to the US and how long per visit?
• Did my K2s travel before?
• Wedding Plans

She said that I’m well prepared given that I have both NBI and 2 CENOMAR’s containing AKA for change name. Then she said, “I’m recommending the approval of your visa. “She also asked for my old passport with my valid tourist visa and was automatically canceled on the spot.

Thank you for everyone here in this group. If not for this group, I might have missed a lot of papers that can lead me to 221g. I’m a silent reader here, reading and researching help us a lot, although we hired a lawyer.

For now, thank you again for everyone that answers the questions here. Hugss! And as they say, you’re next!
