Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Our appointment was for 11:00 AM and we arrived about 45 minutes early since other reviews have stated that the line to get into the building could potentially be long. It took us about 10 minutes to clear security and proceed to the Eight floor. We checked in and waited for about 45 minutes in the spacious waiting room before my wife's name was called.

We followed the officer to his office and were sworn in. My wife then took a photo and some fingerprints. He then started to ask her some questions. He asked basic questions like her name, birth certificate, her parents' names, her birthday, our address and her phone number. He then proceeded to go through the yes/no questions from the I-485 form. I believe he asked all of the questions from that section of the I-485 form. He also asked about how she entered the country and asked for her medical info. My wife had submitted it at the point of entry but she showed him her own personal copies.

He then asked me questions as to how met, what our dating process was like, when did I start to develop feelings for my wife and other relationship questions. He asked my wife what the best thing that I cooked. He asked both of us what was the best thing we liked about the other person. He then asked us for additional proof of our relationship. We showed him pictures from our various travels, photos from our families meeting and wedding photos. We also gave him copies of our joint bank account, utility bills and insurance bills. He then stated that he needed to take copies of our additional photos and other documents that we brought as well as check over the file to make sure everything was in order. He also said that he had to verify our backgrounds. He directed us back to the waiting room and would notify us the result in a few minutes. He came back out after about 10 minutes and told us we were approved. He gave us the letter that states the approval and shook both our hands. In total we spent about 2 hours there.
