Review Topic: K1 Visa

I had my interview for my K1 visa on October 8th, 2018.

Overall, the Interview process went very smoothly. We were a few minutes late due to train delays and the line outside the consulate, they were a bit slow getting everyone in so I would recommend arriving about 20-30 minutes before your interview time, even though they say not to come more than 15 minutes early. They allowed me to bring my USC fiance into the consulate with me and at one point asked her to come up to the window during the interview where they asked us both a few questions about how we met, her school in the UK and our apartment situation together here, why we wanted to move back to the US etc. This part honestly felt more like a casual conversation than an interview. I felt as though they took a lot of the nervousness and fear I had going into the interview and just packed it away.

We waited about 15 minutes for the interview but the interview itself took around 5 minutes. He was very nice and was pretty straight to the point. If this was all we had to deal with then getting my visa would have been a lot simpler than it was, as most of our problems were with Knightsbridge and getting my medical sent through. Ultimately I was sent into AP because they hadn't yet received my medical, and that led to about a months fight with Knighstbridge, as they were really hassling me about paperwork for a heart operation I had 9 years ago and every time we sent them something, they wanted something else.

After the embassy received my medical from Knightsbridge, my visa was approved within the week and I was able to reunite with my Fiance (she had to return home to take care of the logistical stuff before I arrived) in time for Christmas.
