I had my interview on June 12th. I came to Montreal from Toronto the day before via train and stayed the Hotel Travelodge, about 10 minute easy walk to the Consulate and 15-ish to the Central Station. Decent hotel if you're there for a short visit; rooms are very small, but that was fine as I was alone and only stayed one night.
I arrived at the consulate at around 7:45 for my 8:30 interview, where there were 2 others ahead of me. I handed my passport and appointment letter (I just printed the email confirmation) to the girl at front who placed a sticker on my passport and handed me back the letter along with a laminate sheet stating your number and how to organize your documents. I was then taken through security -- as others have said, it's kind of like airport security where you have to put your things in a bin and walk through a metal detector. I was then told to go to the elevator to the 19th floor where the waiting began.
When I heard my number called, I went up to the glass window where a lady asked for my documents one by one. She was pretty rude for no apparent reason, but oh well. The documents I was asked for were:
• Laminated Sheet
• Passport
• Copy of Passport
• Payment Confirmation (I again just used the confirmation email sent when I made the appointment)
• Birth Certificate copy & original (has to be long form)
• Letter of Intent to Marry from petitioner
• Medical report (gave me back the CD w/ X-ray)
• I-134 and supporting tax documents. (I had a co-sponsor and she asked if I had proof of their status; I didn’t but she took it anyways)
• 2 Passport Sized photos
One thing she asked me that I blanked on was my fiancé’s address and phone number. I couldn’t remember his zip code or cell number and had to actually go digging in the I-134 for them lol. She takes my fingerprints then hands me an IMBRA pamphlet and tells me to be seated until I’m called again.
I wait some more, then I’m called to a room with another glass window for my interview. The CO was a super nice lady who handed back my original birth certificate and read out an oath to which I replied "I doâ€. She then asked me the following questions:
• How did you and your fiancé meet
• Have either of you been married before
• How often did you visit/How long have your visits been
• What does your fiancé do for a living
• Have you met each other’s family
She then handed me the pink slip and said congrats, your visa should arrive in 2 weeks. Approved! The interview part lasted like 5 minutes and I left at around 9:45. All in all it was a little over 2 hours for the whole thing. It was super easy and everyone was super nice (except the document hand off lady) and I'm glad to have it over with. My visa was ISSUED the very next day!
