Had my interview at 9am we got there at 8:30 and were let in. First you check in with a lady at the entrance with an iPad. She asked for my interview letter and my passport as well as my husbands passport (since he wanted to enter the consulate with me). I was then given a laminated sheet with a # on it and the order they wanted the documents arranged. We were then checked by the security guard. No bags purses wallets coins or anything really is allowed into the consulate. After walking through the security scanner we went up to the 19th floor.
We waited for about 1.5 hours to be called up to submit all documents. The lady doing the intake of the documents was very kind and professional kept smiling and explained everything. She took my fingerprints and started asking for my paperwork.
I submitted in this order:
Passport
2 passport pics
Medical
Original birth certificate
Original marriage certificate
Original police check
original AOS (I-864)
She asked for 2018 taxes but my husband didn’t file them yet so we used the 2017 that we had submitted to NVC
Photocopy of my passport
I then waited about 1.5 hours again and finally got called to the interview. The officer first gave me back my original documents and I took an oath. Then she asked me:
1. Who is your petitioner?
2. What year did you get married?
2. How did you meet?
3. How frequent are visits between you two?
4. What was your longest stay in the USA?
5. What does your husband work?
6. Were you ever arrested or committed a crime?
7. How old were you when you moved to Canada?
8. Have you ever been back to that country?
And then she said your file looks good and I can issue you a visa and gave me my welcome letter!!!
The officer was super nice but very professional and serious.
