I arrived to the consulate at 08:00 am (my appointment was at 09:15 am).

Waited in line outside in the street for about 15 min as the line was already moving to then wait under the outside roof of the building, then you go trough security inspection. DO NOT BRING CELLPHONES, ETC WITH YOU. I can't count how many people I saw being turned down and had to do the line again because they brought their phone or other prohibited objects. There is really ZERO excuse to bring those, from the outside all security guards are telling people what they can not bring... Really people, is not that difficult to follow instructions.

After this you go inside to a waiting space with the famous green and black chairs. I heard a security guard explaining to another applicant that they meant nothing, is just depending on what first window you get assigned that they put your file in a desk so the CO doesnt have to walk around the whole building to get it for the interview. That's all, nothing to do with missing documents or so.

First window is to deliver documents like BC, police certificates, pictures and affidavit of support form + support documents (I heard people going for spousal visa and didnt have their mariage certificate and things like that, please be careful and provide everything) you give your passport here too... and then they tell you to wait either on the black chairs or the green ones (it can be outside or inside the building depending on how many people are there waiting).

I waited for like 1 hour outside and then another 3 hous inside, this wait is to get the actual interview, They call groups of 10-12 people to wait right in front of the interview windows.

Most interviews last around 15-20 minutes, the CO do take time to check files in front of you and in their computrers. I got like 10 questions asked (really simple ones) and then the CO started checking my civil documents and apparently there was an issue with my police certificate from Venezuela (I'm Venezuelan living in Mexico), so she called another CO and they were both together looking at my documents and the computer... I got really scared because I didn't know what was wrong, they told me to wait in the chairs again while they checked.

I was waiting for about 15 min and then they called my name on the speakers and when I got there she asked me some weird questions like:

"Have you ever been in Yemen? Syria? Chad? Libya? North Korea? Somalia?" ---- I answer no to all of them and my face must had been really funny because I was like "WTF am I going to do in Yemen?".

Then she asked me if I or someone in my immediate family have ever been a member of the government of Venezuela and I answer " I have NOTHING to do with the Venezuelan regime" (the truth).

--- For any of you not familiar with the situation, Venezuela is included in the travel ban alongside with the other countries she asked me for, but not all citizens and not for every visa type, -The restrictions on Venezuelans apply only to a narrow category of government officials at Venezuela's Ministry of the Popular Power for Interior, Justice and Peace; the Administrative Service of Identification, Migration and Immigration and other agencies deemed responsible for failing to cooperate with the Department of Homeland Security in identifying visa seekers who are security risks.-

She then handed me my BC in original and told me I was approved!!! I got a green paper with the DHL information on it and that was it! I was out of the consulate at 02:45 pm.

It was REALLY cold and part of the wait is done outside so check the weather and be prepared.

No need for heels or to over dress, but keep the outfit casual, the only thing the CO sees is your chest, arms and face so use a nice shirt and jacket, and take care of the hair and makeup (not excesive). I saw people wearing sweat pants and sweaters or looking like they just wake up and to be honest it looked like they don't care... and I saw the other extreme with even fake eyelashes and bright red lipstick.
