I had my IV interview rescheduled from Dec 18 to December 14 at 8am. Got to MLC Building, and found another interviewee, Natalie. We both went up at 7.40am. The lift to the 10th floor won't open til 7.30am.
It was funny because as soon they asked us to line up inside to get our paperwork sorted, the two ladies sorting out our papers had the wrong list of interviewees for the day so we all had to go out again and reline up after 5 minutes.
Had to take my shoes off, then they took my small purse, and I was able to take everything else upstairs. My ears popped 3 times going up to the 59th floor. Then you take a number...I was applicant 203.
A few minutes later, a lady took all my documents. She returned the photocopies as I have submitted mine all electronically. Had to wait half an hour before doing another set of biometrics and oath in front of a female Officer. She was actually quite nice...not as stern. Asked me a few casual questions, similar to the ones mentioned here. After that she said that everything was in order and I will receive my passport in a week or two.
I did not see anyone get denied...but the guy before me was missing a couple of documents and the officer offered to return his passport just in case he needed it but he said he doesn't need it. The girl I met, Natalie, didn't have her medical yet at the Consulate. So she was going to do a follow up with her medical that day. So the Officer could not make a decision that moment.
I was at the Consulate at 7.20. At the door at 8.00. Got out at exactly 9.06am. And I was on the phone to my hubby at 9.07 with the good news.
Monday, my CEAC status changed to Administrative Processing. Thursday changed to Issued. Friday at 11.00am, Australia Post delivered my Visa at work. Visa on hand 5 Business days after my interview.
I'd like to give special mention to fellow VJ peeps who helped me with my journey and anxiety with this whole process... Special thanks to Sukie, Adrii, Natalie, and a couple more people who have sent PMs.
