Fantastic consulate! Everyone was super friendly, yet professional. Arrived at 7AM on the dot and they opened the doors at 7:30 AM exactly. As everyone has described the process, they let you in by two's where they look at your payment receipt (the one you get when you book your interview online in your email), passport and P4. This is where they give you your laminated instructions/# card. You put everything and all your belongs through a machine like the airport, so bring as little as possible. Yes, they keep your phone and ever headphones. They will make you remove belts, watches, etc. No food or drinks - but they have vending machines in the second waiting room they bring you to. From that point, when you are ready they tell you to go down a set of stairs where you wait in a room. You are given time to put your documents in order but don't worry about necessarily putting everything in order - they ask for things in that order they choose.

What i ended up doing was brining an accordion type folder which I labelled in the order the P4 lists all items. This way, when the lady asked for my documents I just went to the right tab and handed things over. I made sure that each original had the copy paper clipped to it. They appreciated that, especially for things that needed seals on it (divorce degree, the police checks).

It really isn't rocket science, i promise. Everyone is super helpful there. Just make sure everything on that p4 list, you have - originals/certified and copies. If your province does long form birth certificates, have those and make copies. The police check - bring what you can get. They know there is a bit of an issue with it all and so I feel they arent going to be strict about the privacy act, versus visa/border crossing finger print one, or even the one your local police does in the coming few weeks. Again, dont quote me, but that was my take on it. It seems there is a grace period since september 10 took effect. But, if you have time - request the privacy act one, the finger print one and bring the regular one you get from your local police if you have it already. MAKE COPIES. They keep your original police check(s).

Like everyone has said, there aren't any trick questions. You basically get to talk about your relationship for a few mins and actually put a love story behind a case number. It's almost therapeutic when you get to share the life story behind the long waiting period to someone on their end
