My appointment was on 29th Aug 2:45pm.
I arrived around 2:20 pm and there was no one waiting outside of the embassy.
So I passed through the security check. Handed over my phone and power bank. (Please do not bring your laptop and iPad otherwise you will not be allowed to leave those items in the security guard office.)
After enter the embassy, there's another security check just to confirm you don't have any items that are not allowed into the embassy.
After the 2nd security check, just go straight and the interview room was on the left. Like most reviews have described, it is a bank-style room with windows.
Upon entry, I was given a checklist to arrange all the documents I have brought. No queue number was given, the staff told me my name would be called when it was my turn.
So I waited for around 20-30mins and I was called to window 7 to submit all the documents.
- Passport with 2 photo
-Original Birth Certificate and copy
- Original COC
- I-134
- Most recent tax return
- Verification of employment letter (optional)
Question asked at window 7:
1. What is your status in Singapore?
2. Are you single? Is your fiancé single?
3. Do you or your fiancé have any children?
I was handed back with two piece of paper about the violence what what(I forgot the name) and a paper with instruction if any additional document is needed from me. (Don't panic about this, everyone will receive this. But the Visa Officer will tell you if you really need extra documents)
I waited for another 40mins - 60 mins. (I am not sure about exactly how long I waited but it was really so long.)
My name was called on Window 6 and like most reviews mentioned, the Visa Officer is an Asian American lady and she is very stern.
She asked me to do the oath and then take my finger prints.
She went through all the documents I have and then started to ask me questions and type in on her laptop.
Questions:
1. How did you meet each other?
2. When did you start dating?
3. After you left US, when was the first time you meet each other? (I studied in US before thus this question)
4. When is the next time you meet each other?
5. When is the next time you meet each other?
6. When is the next time you meet each other? ( She asked this question for a several times as we met each other for a few times and at the same time she was typing)
7. Did you stay at his home when you visit?
8. Did you stay in the same hotel and same room when you travel with him?
9. When was the last time you meet each other?
10. When did he propose to you?
11. How did he propose to you?
12. What does your fiancé do?
13. Are you single?
14. Is your fiancé single?
15. Do you or your fiancé have any children?
After all these questions, the visa officer told me that my documents look fine and is good to issue a visa. The visa will be ready within one week. She also asked if I need my passport or she shall keep it? I told her to keep it.
I spent around 2 hours in the embassy.
Here's some tips I would share before you go for interview:
1. Put your documents info folders and tag them properly
2. CALL FULLERTON to confirm with them they have sent your medical results. You better call and write them the email at the same time to get black and white confirmation.
(This is important as there are several cases that Fullerton did not send the medical results on time which leads to delay of visa issuance.)
3. Better go for medical a few weeks before interview to make sure theres enough buffer in between.
I wouldn't give an excellent rate for embassy in Singapore as I think the overall waiting is too long.
And now they do not answer phone calls and only reply emails.
I highly recommend people who has nationality in other countries to apply in their own country as there's only one visa officer for immigrant visa. Thus it may not be as fast as other embassies. But this is the result I get based on the current timeline, if any one of you is reading this review in the future, please talk to some fellow applicants to understand the timeline.
Here's a general summary of each step based on my observation:
1. Case move to NVC (20 days after NOA2 date)
2. Case Number will be ready (around 2 weeks after 'At NVC')
