My husband's interview was scheduled for 8:30am. To beat the traffic, he left early and arrived at the embassy at about 7:30am. After waiting for about an hour, a queue was formed for security checks and he was let in. After entering and waiting for about an hour, he was called up by a white lady to submit his documents. Except for our original documents and a photo album, we did not introduced any new information. He had copies of all the documents I submitted during the whole process but these were not taken from him as the lady said they already have those. She only took the original documents and the photo album which I was grateful for as I was one of the people that didn't frontload for lack of knowledge. I realized my mistake after I joined VJ and so added my documents during the NVC stage. His fingerprints were taken and was asked to go have a sit. After waiting for about 3 and half hours, he was called up to another window for his interview. The interview was conducted by a middle age white man. His oath was administered and then the interview began. He was asked 5 questions: 1. Who is filing for you? 2. What work I do? 3. What date was our marriage? 4. When I came to the US and 5. How I got my citizenship which he answered confidently. During all these, the man continued to type on his computer but continued to make eye contact with my husband frequently. In the end, he told my husband "I am going to give you the visa okay" and proceeded to give him the white paper to go register and pick up his visa in two weeks. My husband was so excited, they gave each other the thumbs up. In all, he said it was a friendly encounter, uneventful and felt like having a chat with someone you just met.
Having read all the horror stories coming from this embassy and having been denied a visistors visa in 2017, we were both scared of the unknown but God being so faithful, we sailed through successfully. I thank my VJ family for all the help and for finding this site at the right time. I still cannot believe it and will continue to hold my breath until I pick him up from the airport. I wish everyone going through this embassy the same easy and fruitful interview. Best wishes to us all!!
