I strongly recommend the USC attends the interview with the beneficiary. We can hear the questions from other COs and beneficiaries without USC were definitely asked more questions.

We arrived at 6:00 for the 6:40 appointment. They were very organized and at 6:35 we went to the greeters where we were given plastic bags for our passports. We showed the DS-160 receipt and they were led into the building. I took their phones and went in the US Citizen’s area where they put all the phones in a plastic bin and handed me a equipment check card. They also took my drivers license to put in the bin with all of our phones.

Pre-registration was next. The Filipino was very professional and had obviously don’t this many times before. They way he organized all the papers and scanned them in was amazing. He is the one who noticed that my fiancées name was misspelled on her daughter’s birth certificate. He told us we would need an NBI report using the misspelled name. We were concerned that the NBI reports for my fiancée and her son were over 6 months old. That was never mentioned.

After pre screening it was over to biometrics. The guy that had a great sense of humor and commented that my fiancée’s 17 year old son was so good at getting his fingerprints taken that he must have done that many times before. We laughed and then talked about Navy Pier. He said Navy Pier was like MOA but colder.

Ten we sat waiting for the interview. When it was our turn we went to the window of a very nice woman. She asked very basic questions about when we met and how many times I visited. She mentioned the need for another NBI and let us know that we will receive the visas after the new NBI report was received. My fiancée’s name is Maria Ramosa (Rose) but on Aira’s birth certificate it was listed as Ma. Ramosa. It was a minor issue but it did need to be addressed. We were then sent over to another window where the woman told us how to use 2GO to get the documents to the Embassy. She also mentioned that everything was fine and the visas will be released after they received the updated NBI certificate with the AKA completed. We were done before 8:00.

We went to NBI at Robinson’s and have ordered the new certificate.
