What an awesome experience at the US Embassy in Montreal.
My interview date was today at 8am for a K-1 Visa.
Honestly the time of the appointment means nothing!! I got there extra early cause from reading online it’s pretty much first come first served.
I arrived at 7am and there were four people I front of me. We waiting till 7:30am and they started to let people in one by one (like I had heard they do)
I entered ( HUGE STEP BE CAREFUL I TRIPPED) they took my appointment letter and passport. They gave me a laminated paper with the #4 and a list of documents.
Went through security I didn’t bring a purse just a snack and my wallet. They said I could keep the snack if it was a medical thing I said t wasn’t. They kept my phone my Apple Watch and my snack!
I went down stairs to the waiting area for the elevator. A security guard got us in the elevator and we headed up to the 19th floor. Once at the top we sat on the right side of the room (the view is spectacular)
Sorted all my stuff in the order on the paper they gave me.
-appointment letter
-passport
-copy of passport
-long form birth certificate original
-copy of long form birth certificate
-police report
-I-134 original
-supporting documents
At 8am: Once they called my number and to a certain window, I handed them to the lady as she asked for them. It was super easy they were so nice. They took my finger prints and I sat down waiting for the interview.
At 8:15am they called my for the interview she greeted me so kindly and asked me to swear an oath that everything was true.
She then proceeded to asked my questions such as:
-how we met
-do my parents like him
-favourite thing about him
-what he does
Then as I was gushing about him she handed me the pink form saying “Welcome to the United States†I said that’s it?
She laughed and said yes?
I told her I brought photos and she said I can show him off if I wanted!! So I did haha!
I headed to the evaluator and downstairs and I was out by 8:30am. I was only in the building a hour! It was awesome!
I have a couple tips for people.
1. Read all the letters that the embassy sends you, and do lots of research of stuff they may ask; make sure you have copies of everything. I had two copies of everything.
2. Better to have more than not enough.
3. Be prepared read the experiences and do research on your particular embassy. I even called them to confirm things a couple times. They’re there to help.
