I had to fly to Montreal from Vancouver. Stayed at Hôtel Faubourg, which is about a 10 minute walk to the Embassy. The Embassy was opened at 7:30 (I believe) and my appointment was scheduled for 7:45. I arrived at 7AM and there was already a line up. Make sure not to bring any backpacks because the security will not let you through. Any type of electronics will be held at security until you're done. Once you're in, someone will scan your DOS print out and check your passport and will give you a handout on how to organize your paperwork. The handout will have a number, basically your place in queue. Once you passed through security, you'll go downstairs and wait next to the elevator. The elevator will be opened by someone from the Embassy and takes you to level 18 or 19?. You'll then wait for your number to be called. The number system is a bit complicated and the speakers are very quiet so make sure you pay attention. Once your number is called, you'll be asked to hand in different forms. The guy helping me asked for each forms separately so I didn't end up following the guideline. (TIP: I used post-it to divide each category so it was relatively easy for me to hand in each documentation). Once all forms are checked, they'll scan your fingerprint (make sure to press hard, I had to scan mine five times), you'll be asked to sit down and wait for the interview. Within 10 minutes, my number was called; the guy was super nice. He had computer issues and kept apologizing. The interview was very simple, questions like "How did you meet?", "What are your wedding plans?", "Have you overstayed in the U.S?", "When was the last time you met?" were asked. It took less than 10 minutes and I was given a letter of approval! I highly recommend booking an earlier time. By the time I left, there was about 20+ people waiting, and I left around 8:20AM. Also, no where in the checklist says you to print your proof of payment (the receipt for paying the interview fee), but a lot of reviews said it's best to bring this so make sure to have this! As well, I don't think your appointment time matters too much, when I was in line, our spots were given on a first come first serve basis. However, some reviews did mention that you can't be too early as security may turn you away.
