Review Topic: K1 Visa

I had my K-1 visa interview yesterday and it went great! My appointment was at 1pm, and I got there around 12. There was no one else there so I just sat on the ground next to the tent. At around 12.10, two women came out to the tent and checked me in - was quite surprised they let me in so early!

After going through security (with incredibly cheery guards dancing to the radio), I went through to the waiting area. It's huge, but there was only about 6 other people waiting for other types of visa's. I got called up to a window right away to show them my passport, photograph, letter, police certificates, birth certificate and affidavit of support. The guy was super nice. I had cut my ankle earlier in the day and he gave me a band aid to put on it

The next wait was a little longer, around 45 minutes. I think they only had 2 windows open for everyone. Anyway, by this point it was only just about 1pm so I wasn't complaining The interview was fine. The woman just asked me how and when we met, and what I was planning to do in the states. We had a nice chat about the area I'm going to be living in as she knows it well Then she told me I was approved and should expect my visa within 2 weeks! Yay! :D

Oh, in case there's any military fiance's out there - I asked about why ours had been put through so quickly, even though we didn't apply for an expedite, and he said that they try to push military visa's through first. We got our NOA2 approved in 9 days :O We just couldn't book the medical or interview as I was living in Canada temporarily.

Anyway, so happy the first stage is over. Good luck to you all
