Rating: | Review Topic: K1 Visa
Appointment Date:
6 August 2014
8:45am
I arrived early and got ‘Immigrant Visa’ queue number 004. I was already sitting and waiting at 8.30am then queue numbers 001 - 003 were flashed on the screen. It’s funny that nobody showed up. I guess some ‘Non-Immigrant visa’ applicants pressed the wrong queue numbers at first. I was just barely composing myself and my number was called.
First interview
Window 7. The interviewer is the famous Asian guy. He was in a good mood and speaks very calmly. He said he needs to check if I brought all the documents needed before my interview with the Consul Officer.

He asked me to sit down and wait for my number to be called again for second interview. This was the longest part because I waited for 1.5 hours. I just entertained myself by listening to the ongoing interviews. I can hear them loud and clear.
Second interview
Window 8. I was surprised the Consul called my name but my number wasn't flashed on the screen. I was so happy to find out that he was the same Consul who interviewed me when I applied for tourist visa last year. He is very nice and not intimidating so I had a level of comfort at this point.
He greeted me and asked how’s my day so far. He then took all my fingerprints and returned the 4 photos taken between 1999-2005 I submitted earlier. He said that my fiancé and I seem to have known each other for a long time (15 years to be exact).
Questions
• Your petitioner is Mr. Xxxxx?
• When and how did you meet?
• What does he do for a living? Then he commented the he knows where my fiancé works.
• Which part of US is he staying?
• When was the last time you've seen each other?
• How often do you meet?
Then he said, well it seems like our case is fine so he will not hold me for too long. Then he asked me to take an oath stating that all information I stated are true and correct. I said yes and he asked for my fingerprints again. He reminded me to register online and depending if I want to pick up my passport or have it delivered, I may get the visa in a week’s time (I’m assuming mine will take a week because U.S. Embassy is closed on Friday, 8 August, and the following Monday, 11 August, is a Singapore public holiday). He then said, that’s all Madame!
I’m so happy but not 100% sure if I’m approved so I asked him directly! And he said “well your case is okay… I intend to approve it but if something comes up within the week, we will call you directly which I doubt (then he smiled) but still wait until you hear from us.. have a good day Madame!”
I finished at 10.45am so I was in the Embassy for 2 hours. I feel like I’m approved but okay I will wait until I get my visa on hand before I celebrate!!
It has been an amazing journey so far and I’m so glad this part of the process is over!! My fiancé and I didn't hire an immigration lawyer. I did everything from scratch just by following the guides here. All my fiancé did was sign the papers which is not a big deal to me. There were no request for more evidence (RFE) or whatsoever. Overall, it was a super smooth visa application. I find it fast too that I had to request to delay my interview for a month. Thanks to everyone who helped me in the process and feel free to drop me a message if you have any questions.
