My interview was scheduled for 10am, and I arrived about 9.45am, I entered the MLC center lobby and went up to level 10 via the lift.
The U.S. consulate reception is around a corner from the lifts on level 10, upon entering it wasn't busy but there were many security guards they're all friendly!
I handed over my bag and coat, they placed my chest x-ray cd in my bag (it was not needed at the interview at all) I was instructed to wait for a lady to let me into the lift, she told me to get off at level 59.
When I got to level 59 the lady asked for my passport to check my name off a list and buzzed me in, had to pull open that big heavy door!
I was surprised to see that the interviewing area is much like a bank teller with thick heavy glass and intercoms, you stand up speaking to the consulate officer while they type on their computers.
I took a number from the ticket machine and sat down, my number was called about 10 minutes later; I handed in my paperwork in the order they asked for itv on the checklist (minus the medical, which I ticked on the checklist but the medical center had sent it directly to the consulate so they had it)
The lady who took my documents told me to sit down again while she checked everything was there.
I got called up again 10 minutes later for my fingerprints. I watched others taking their interviews, saw a few people be told they'll need to provide a co-sponsor before their visa would be issued.
Then my number was called again to window 2! I Took the oath looking the CO in the eye, he asked when i met my fiance, I told him the story and he smiled, he then asked me when he proposed and he smiled and laughed with me when I explained I had no idea what was happening and I squealed and freaked out excitedly! While going through the I-134 stuff (we have my fiancé'a mum as our co-sponsor) he joked a bit about my police check costing me $52 to say I had a lack of criminal record.
The questions he asked were;
1. When and how did you meet? (online!)
2. How did he propose? (Afte christmas shopping on a snowy wintery night he filled bought me ice cream and took me up to Mt washington overlooking Pittsburgh night skyline!)
3. What does he do for a living?
4. What do I do for a living?
5. What was the longest time you have been in the U.S. in one trip? (no overstays)
6. Is this the first marriage for both of you? (Yup!)
7. Do either of you have kids? (nup!)
8. Will you take his last name?, and will our future kids do that too (I thought that was funny cos we're not starting just yet!)
Then he handed me my slip that says I've been approved!
I was shocked at how quick it was, I had tons of evidence with me but none was needed. I had a question about my G325a from the initial petition; i'd written the wrong month for my employment end date and 2 residential addresses, he said not to worry about it even though I had a new one ready for him, then he waved his hand and shooed me away smiling! javascript:emoticon(' ')
DONE!!!! javascript:emoticon(' ')
