Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Everything went well. I was super nervous and my husband was not. They allowed me to be with him at all times, except when it was time for the interview I couldn't say anything. Initially, they spoke to him in Portuguese, except once again when it was time for the interview itself, which was in English. She asked my husband strange questions. She wanted to know how long we had been married, how we met and when my husband said that our parents were friends and we knew each other since we were kids, she wanted to know how long we dated for. My husband didn't explain himself very well and she started to get frustrated by wanting to know if I ever moved there, if not then how come we started dating. Then, my husband said he had our wedding album and started showing her pictures. She wanted to know why he had pictures alone in his bedroom (it is Portuguese tradition) and she wanted to see pictures of my parents. When he showed her me with my parents on our wedding day, she wanted to see all of us together as proof he was there. So then he started pointing out pictures where we were all together. At that point she started to type some things on the computer and he also said that he had pictures of us dating and she said, "It's not necessary, I'm fully convinced." She also asked how many times he had been in the US and if he ever overstayed his Visa. He said never had and that he had been there 5 times for a month each time. And she asked again, "So you have never overstayed or stayed more than a month?" And he said, "Well maybe I stayed 31 days." It was a cute response because he was trying to be politically correct while not falling Into a "trap" answer. She laughed and told us we would get the Visa in the mail in 10-12 days. (Interview was in July 2014)

Had my interview on 22/3/2017, was schedule to 11h45 am

Arrived France the day before, stayed in a friends house, he got me the chronopost envelope. Day after went by train to Paris, got out from train near the embassy, waited in the park until 11h then went in the embassy.
Gone through the first security, they saw my hand bag, my papers and passed a wand on me they were nice to me, then went to a lady near that asked me for my passport, medical exams, my interviem schedule and my criminal report, put all together and sent me in, went through another security, they saw all again, met a portugese security man from north of Portugal, he was really nice to me and sent me in. When i finally was inside of the embassy I saw 2 signs one to citizens and other to visas, gone to the last one and waited on the line for 20 min, alot o persons there on that day. Was called to a desk and the lady, very nice told me if i wanna to speak to a portuguese lady, I said no cause i can speak English or French also, so she asked for my papers, toke my fingerprints and told me to go to a another desk to do the interview, spoke with a gentleman in english also very nice, that asked for my passport, and asked a few questions about my fiance, how we met, if we had met personally, for how long, then asked me if i was married before, if he was, and some things about my papers, gave me some advice, went in then came to me saying that my papers were in order and welcome to America, and that my papers would be in Portugal up to 10 days. Wished me the best and I to him and I left the embassy very happy.

Review Topic: K1 Visa

Arrived and hour late because of the strike, but they were kind enough to let me in. Had to wait 3 hours and was the last one to be interviewed.

Was called 3 times: first to deliver the confirmation of the DS-160 and pay the fee, second time to deliver the documents requested and finally the interview.

The interview took place right there at the counter. The questions were basic:

- how did we met
- was it love at first sight
- when did we realize we wanted to be 'together forever'
- have I ever visited the US
- how long was my longest stay in the US
- did I enjoyed the city I'm about to live in

... And that's it. 'All good, you'll receive your visa in 10 business days at home' javascript:emoticon('')

Final notes:

- print your confirmation email of the date of the interview; they'll request it, although I didn't had mine;
- if you don't have a credit card, bring cash with you: it was 252€ at the time, and it'll save you the trouble of running to the ATM, like I had to do, because debit cards might not work (specially electron);
- they speak in 3 languages (including in the interview): french, english and portuguese;
- if you're not in France and just came for the interview, you can buy the EU envelop requested at the La Post near Argentine subway stop and take the subway to La Concorde;
- the only thing you can take to the waiting room is food and the documents. Nevertheless, they do have water fountains and vending machines with food and water (nothing fancy, just snacks).

Good luck! javascript:emoticon('')

The interview itself was quick and painless. Just a few simple questions were asked: How we met, what is his fiance's name and address. Was told that everything looks in order and congratulations your visa will arrive soon.
He was there for about 3 hours, the majority of the time there was just waiting to be called for each window - to submit any additional paperwork then the actual interview.
