Review Topic: K1 Visa

My interview appointment at the embassy was at 9 am. Me and my son stayed a 20 minute walk from the embassy and came there around 8.20 am. We got in the line where it says for immigrant visa. It was two people in front of me and then came two more behind me as we were standing there. In the other line it was about 15 people waiting.
The guard called one and one from each line. Then before we walked in to the security he asked for our passport and to show the bottom of our shoes.
Then we walked through security (just like at the airport) and I left my cell phone there and got a ticket to retrive it after the interview.
We were then told to follow the yellow line and walk in to another building and window G (I think.)I think all of this took about 10 minutes.
At window G a man was in front of me handing over papers to a man. It took quite some time, or at least that's what it felt like...
Then it was my turn. She asked me for our passports and found our file. She then asked about the receipt showing I had paid for the visa, she also wanted our birth certificates and my police record. She then asked for the affidavit of support and supporting documents. I had a letter from employer, w2 and tax return for 2011 and about 6 weeks of pay stubs. She did not want the tax transcripts from 2010 and 2009.
I then had to step to the side to fill out a form for my son that I didn't do before and to write N/A on all blanks on my forms. I had to wait for another person to give her forms before she returned to me. She then made copies and I signed them there. I got an envelope to put all my stamps on and write name and adress. Because of the waiting for two others this whole thing took about 30 minutes and by that time it was right after nine.
We then sat down to wait. It was quite a lot of people in the really small waiting area. The windows are really close to everybody and sometimes you could hear what was being said... That's the only thing, it did not feel very private.
About 40 minutes later my name was called. I got to the window and an american woman took my fingerprints and asked me to swear to tell the truth. She asked my son to sit down.
She then asked me a few questions before she all of a sudden told me I was approved! No ongoing relationship evidence requested and the whole "interview" was over in five minutes I think! About 10.10 we were already back at the hotel!
Overall a very good experience at the embassy in Stockholm!

Review Topic: K1 Visa

So last night i came back from the US embassy in Sweden. And it was actually the most easiest thing during the whole visa process. My interview was schedueled at 9 in the morning and i got there 8 (when the embassy opens, they were really friendly and the guards were easy going and poilte. When it was my turn i showed the lady my paper and she barely looked at them, she wanted my passport, the birth certificate and the sponsor papers and the reciete on 1680 SEK and thats it. after 10 minutes she told me that i could take a seat and they would call my name. So when it was my turn again (it took like 15 minutes) another woman made me take an oath and asked me where i met my fiancee and thats it, APPROVED the whole thing took like 15 minutes, i dint even need to show pictures or anything like that. They are really polite and nice so dont be afraid

I went in before actual appointment time. Handed them all paperwork, was told sit and wait. They called my name after about 30 minutes, the officer asked me houw I met my fiance'. I told them how I met him and she said good luck with your life in the united states. Only took about 5 to 6 minutes

Kind and courteous very helpful with questions. We did however need to find a sponsor which we did prior to the cutoff date - Visa awarded in July.

Review Topic: General Review

I had my immigrant visa interview in Stockholm on Dec. 13th. It was a smooth experience, besides the fact that I was extremely nervous. It turned out there was no reason to be nervous at all. The hardest part about the whole experience was the waiting.

My husband was with me and they let him come in with me. My appointment was at 8.30 am, we were outside the embassy at around 7.50 am. There was only two IV interviews that day, so there was no need to be that early. They let you bring your purse and jacket inside, but they make you check any electronics. We waited inside for almost an hour before the interview. When we first got inside we gave the lady at window G our papers. I gave her an updated DS 230 and 300 kroner in stamps. It's very important to remember to bring stamps, check the embassy webpage for info. I wrote my name on an envelope and then sat back down and waited.

At around 9 we were called for the interview. It was a very nice lady that swore us in and asked us how we met. She then wanted to know how our relationship developed. I was kinda expecting interrogation like questions, but it was nothing like that. It was all over in about 5 min. She said they had the paperwork they needed and that my visa was approved I told her we already bought plane tickets for Dec. 29th and she wrote that on a note so they could process my visa faster. I got it in the mail exactly one week after the interview.

It was a very easy interview and there was no reason to worry as much as I did.
Everybody was nice, from the guards to the CO!
