it took a long time, the guards at the embassy where rude to us but i pulled out my passport and showed I was a us citizen and their attitudes changed. the no appointment deal is great all you have to do is call and see if they have mailed your fiancee packet and if they have you just show up at the information window get a letter for the medical exam and go the following day to the interview.

Review Topic: K1 Visa

hi all

we arrived at juarez on monday and on tuesday early morning we went for medical exam, although we went at 6 am, people arriving at 8am got results just as fast as we did, so no need to wake so early and wait outside in the cold weather, results are done around 2 pm and you can always pick them up next day before going to interview.

we were done from medical at 8 am and waited in mcdonalds untill 9am when banamex bank is open, restaurant is across the street same street as consulate and clinics

wednesday early morning again we went to the consulate, first of all you need to show cover letter to security before entry, no cell phones or any electronic device allowed, again there is no need to wait outside in the cold cos we were called random there is no order and people arriving at 8 am got called before many of us who arrived earlier.

At building C you are first requested for your cover letter then after 3 hours we were called to a window to get your papers checked and woman keeps them, i was asked for:

form ds-156 (original and a copy)
form ds-156k (just one)
2 photos
cdj-402 (intent to marry)
I-134 (affidavit and suport) and backup
birth certificate
passport
tourist visa (if you had one)
divorce or death certificate (if applies) from my fiance and i
although is not supose to be needed for k-1 they took the no police records letter i had with me
and the medical results, which they opened and returned the xray only

for k-2 they asked for:

ds_156 (original and copy)
2 photos
ds-156k (just one)
birth certificate

about 30 minutes later we were called to window 9 where i got fingerprints done and were told to lead to building B.

TIP:
building C they sell burritos for 10 pesos.
building B there is a little vendor but they close early around 11 am, there are machines inside for drinks and chips but only american money for them
vendor at building b and c take pesos.

so i waited at building B to be called for about 3 and half hours, interview was rough and unpleasent, i guess woman wasnt in the mood to work today , but at the end everything went fine, i was asked simple questions just too many, i was told then to go sit and wait , she didnt tell me if i was approved or not and i was too tired to ask

again 3 and half hours later i was called to pick up my visas k1 and k2 yipeeeee
mmmm tip try and keep with you the credencial de elector (voting card) cos you might be asked for it, i was, and i was also asked for a letter from my work, woman said to prove i was still leaving in mexico (i couldnt understand that one but ok)

The medical was where it all went bad. They sent Javier to some mystery psychiatrist and then didn't have our medical results when they said they'd be ready, plus decided to send them directly to the Consulate. The Consulate denied our Visa for a frivolous application of the law and now we're fighting it with an Advisory Opinion. Plus the Consulate decided to close not 1, not 2, but THREE days for Thanksgiving, thereby eliminating the slim chance I had for going with Javier to the interview. The guards outside knew nothing, the information desk lady was rude, they're not allowing Americans into their very own Consulate, and despite what I've heard previously, the Consular Officers are Spanish-speaking, maybe even Mexican...or at least some of them. Javier said the lady didn't even want to speak English with him.
