Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Summary: VERY long wait; asked to return with joint sponsor.

Detail: My husband and I arrived at about 7:10 for my 7:30 appointment. The line was long but once I showed my appointment letter to one of the embassy personnel outside, I was directed to a much shorter line. We went through security, waited in the courtyard, and were then directed inside where I was issued a number and my husband instructed to wait in the courtyard. By this time I think it was about 8:30.

I waited for at least 1.5 hours for my number to be displayed on the monitor, for document intake. I am SO glad I carried copies of my civil documents, because I was asked AGAIN for divorce decrees and police certificate... until the agent saw that they already had some of that paperwork. I went back to my seat and waited for at least another hour to for my number to again come up, this time for my interview.

There were 3 consular officers interviewing today: 2 gentlemen, 1 lady. I was interviewed by the lady. She verified my fingerprint, had me sign my DS-230 Part II, then asked me when I got married. I answered, then she had me raise my right hand and swear to the truthfulness of my application etc.

Then she interviewed me:
- Have I been married before? How many times? How did my first marriage end, and why?
- She asked the same for my husband.
- Do I have children?
- Does my husband have children? How many?
- When and how did I meet my husband?
- She asked me to tell her about my wedding. I took that opportunity to show her some pictures.

While I answered her questions, she was typing, AND she cancelled my visitor and work visas. Then she asked more questions:

- What's the longest time I've ever spent in the USA?
- Have I ever traveled to other countries apart from the USA? Where?
- Have I ever lived for more than a year in any other country?
- What other financial documents from my husband do I have for her?

It was at that point that she told me that the ONLY issue they had with my file, was my husband's income as shown on his most recent tax return. She told me that it was below the required level for his household size and advised me to get a joint sponsor ASAP and send the information in for them to review, then have me return with my passport for a 2nd interview.

I was completely surprised, because my husband's CURRENT income is more than enough, which I pointed out to her based on his pay slips and job letters. I also reminded her that we had included in our AOS filing, information about his medical leave and reduced pay last year for major surgery. She said that they do consider current income, but rely on the income on the most recent tax return. She assured me that all I need is a joint sponsor... everything else in my file is good to go.

We're very disappointed at the outcome, but we're working on getting this situation sorted out ASAP. I'm happy that it's not a denial, and that the CO was emphatic that they had no other issues with my case. So we're working hard and trusting God to hang in there until we receive that immigrant visa!

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

I arrived at the interview by 8am but didn't proceed to enter the embassy until 8:15. When I arrived I went to the front of the line that had formed and asked for the immigrant interview, the line outside was for the non-immigrant visa. I left all electronics and only walked with my folder and album. I reached inside by 8:29 and was told to go to the right for the immigrant section. Inside was already full. I had to stand for 15mins before I received a seat. After sitting for 2hours I was called to the 1st window where they took my finger prints and medical results. Then I had a seat again. They call the numbers randomly but what i observed is that the same order in which you do your prints, is the same order that they will call you for the interview. I also realise that the blue/yellow/green sheets are written up before you go to be interviewed, so most times if you are missing something they will know before hand and start writing up the sheets, you will then be interviewed and then they will tell you to come back with the missing documents.

Anyway back to the interview, I then waited another hour before I was called up. My number didn't flash the CO just went for my file and called me up. He was looking on me for awhile. He forgot to swear me in and had asked a couple question then the swear in occurred. This is what I was asked

Is your husband in the marines
what is his rank
where is he now
have he even been deployed before
when will he be deployed
where will I be living
if i know anybody in north Carolina
if we have a child together
if I have his birth certificate and passport
was the child passport issued in Jamaica at this consulate.
if I have ever been in the US.

That was it, he then tore the slip and told me to make arrangements at the DHL counter.

By the time I was being interviewed I wasn't even nervous any more because I was so hungry and thirsty by then. I just wanted to leave and go home.

When I proceeded to the DHL I had another wait about 30mins again, a lot of individuals got there visa on that day. The reality hasn't set in as yet. I am yet to experience the excitement. I also bought my plane ticket as well. So probably i will be excited on that day

My husband arrived at the Embassy Friday May 25th 2012 at like 5:30 am. He waited several hours to be seen, but once he was, the IO only talked to him briefly and very casually. They only asked to see a few photos of us together. They were in their talking and laughing and just shooting the breeze, and then he was approved. The IO returned the birth certificate that I sent of mine and our daughter who was born July 2011!! They did not ask for all the stuff that we went crazy trying to gather together to prepare for this day. Nor did they ask any of the questions that we tried hard to prepare for. Now awaiting the arrival of his visa so that he can make Next Friday 6/8's flight!!!!!

Review Topic: General Review

Hello everyone,my husband arrived at the Kingson Embassy around six that morning eager and wanted to make sure he didnt get caught in the traffic. Since he arrived so early he sat a restaurant across the street and ate some food as he waited to go inside, he than saw folks lining up so he decided to go get in line at 7:15 for his eight on clock appoinment time despite the fact I told him to wait 15 minutes b4 eight lol. He was then asked to put his bag thru the scanner and to take off his belt, after passing thru the next door he was then to fix himself back together.Once inside he was told to sit on the first or second row and waited for his row to b called. Oncehis row eas called he was thsn asked for his passport and was given a yellow slip to write his pjone number and passport number on it. He was then given #129 & sat down praying, waiting and listening to other interviews. He stated that it was a lady beside him laughing at the interviews she heard which made him nervous so he moved away from her. Then he stated a lady at a desk called him and he waa asked to take out all his documents and was then fingerprinted. He than sat back down and then waited two more hours for hia name to be called. He was then called to a window he interviewer was a white man around 35, he was first asked has he ever been arrested /no, next wjo was fileing for him/his wife, he was then sworn in and asked to sign the ds230 form. He was then asked all the following questions in which he said the whole interview only took four minutes because he answered the questions so fast.
Questions he was asked below and I listed all of the questions ans put them im order because I know people will want to know exact questions as I did prior to our interview as I did.
1.Was Ur wife from JA or did she have family im JA
2.Why was she initially in JA
3.Where did yall meet
4.Do she have any in which he started to name but was stopped at the second name and the officer said to him"wait do u have all this written down" lol because he was answering all the questions with confidence back to back
5.Has she ever been married
6.Where does she work
7.Then asked to see our picyure book in which I must say I took pride im creating lol,he then saw a picture of our chocolate 2tier Cake and was amazed at how nice it was.
and then said wait is that yall Cake wow lol.
8.Do u love Ur wife
9.Is she outside, my hubby said no she at work
He was then asked for his passport and was told to go pay the DHL fee smiling from ear to ear my hubby said to the man do I get my passport back so happy he had forgot I told him they wl be keeping it, the man told him no they have to keep it lol, he then paid 1100 JA dollars for the DHL fee, also my hubby said the man didn't ask for receipts, western union papers, phone logs, dicorce decree or anything I was amazed after we went all out to get those items together better safe than sorry I guess lol. Again he said the entire interview once with the CO took only four minutes, my advice would be dress like your going to a Job interview, have all needed items just in case and stay prayed up, to God be the glory. If you would like to know anything else feel free message me I enjoy helping others I guess its the Social Worker in me lol.
