Had interview on 19 November 2006, stood in line for thirty minutes with my fiance Carla, and then we were brought inside to take a number. We waited another forty five minutes and then we were called to the window, the file did not have the physical from the montego bay hospital, which meant the visa could not be issued then. We answered all the questions, and the lady officer was nice, she stamped everything and said as soon as she received the physical we would get the visa. Mo Bay Hospital took another 45 days for the physical to be sent to the embassy. The visa was apporved when Carla went back to Kingston with all her paperwork again, a different lady asked to see police clearance so bring all your papers when you go. took a couple of weeks for visa to be sent due to move of embassy recently. Carla will be here on 9 Feb 07.

Our interview was on December 4th, 2006.

We did our homework, did all the research and were over-prepared with any supporting document they could possibly have asked for. Of course we were nervous. We went early, joined the line, were ushered in, did the security checks, went upstairs, had our forms checked (6 photos are required for that day) and waited to hear our name. The staff there are much more plesant and helpful than on the non-immigrant side. they even had a view and some potted plants and a TV.

We were sworn in and Jay was asked to take a seat. I had a previous overstay and the line of questioning during my interview was suggesting that I sought out Jay so that I could return to the U.S. I answered all the questions as directly and as honestly as I could. They came in rapidfire - one after the other without giving me much time for thought. Possibly 10 - 12 questions in total. My honesty paid off. She called him back to the window to inform us both that we were approved.

My visa was delivered within 4 days.

My advice : Do your homework, be prepared and be honest and you should be fine.

One more thing.. you don't need to walk with the X-Ray in your hand when you travel. Just your passport and the "brown packet" that says "do not open". And yes, they will issue a temporary work authorization stamp at JFK.

Mars.

Well...I guess we can't complain because we were approved, and he went without me, the US Petitioner. We were waiting for a potential December interview date, and on Halloween night I got an email from the Embassy saying they'd had a cancellation for 11/7/06 and suggested we take it, which we did. So George had his interview before he had his medical. At the interview, they gave him a blue sheet, because he had to come back with the medical, and they also asked him for records of money transfers (this was the first time I'd heard them asking for that, but it's actually a preparinted item on the blue sheet) and his phone records. This was an issue, because we'd already tried to get his phone records from Cable and Wireless, but were told they don't provide records for prepaid cell phones. HOwever, the Embassy interviewer told George to bring the blue sheet and they would provide the records. It took a while to get Cable and Wireless to actually cough up the records, but they finally did. So, George went back on NOvember 21st at 12:30 and was told it was too late, they would only take blue sheet interviews between 11:30 and 12:30--wasted trip. He went back the following week, 11/28, at 11:00 am, and was told (BELIEVE IT OR NOT) that he was too late, they'd already taken all the blue sheets they would take that day. So I called inside the embassy and just really persisted until some helpful woman finally said, OK, what does he look like? and she had a security guard find him outside, and they agreed to see him at 2:30. He said he was asked pretty much the same questions as the first time, nothing surprising, and he was told he was approved. Now, we are just waiting for the actual visa to materialize. We were told it would take about 5 business day for it to show up at Airpak Courier in Montego Bay, so we had plane ticket for today, 12/6, because it should have arrived by 12/5. It didn't and no one seems to know yet where it is. I strongly suggest people pick up their visa at the Embassy if they are allowed.

the embassy process could be improved alot!! But all in all not so bad. The actual wait time was 31/2 close to 4 hours. first you stand in line until they are ready to let you in, then you go through security No phones,no cameras,no electronic devices if you have one when you go through security they will cancell your interview. We left everything but our paperwork in the hotel safe. Make sure you bring a ink pen just incase you have to fill out a form. make sure you have 4 passport pictures and if you downloaded the 156 and 157 take two copies. Window four was really rude at first but she losin up a little.
after they get all the papaerwork then you sit down and wait again. Then we went to window 9, she was pleasant. 6 questions and we were approved.
