My fiances appointment was at 10:45 am on 8/9, he got there at 10am he said he had a very pleasant experince with the staff when he first arrived. He went through the first 2 areas with ease. The staff was pleasant and really helpful. unfortunately his interview experince was tough. I told him from what i read online the interview process was very smooth. His experience was very different, He said the women that interviewed him drilled him with questions. He said she asked him where he slept when I visited him in October last year, What we did and where we stayed when I visited him during New Years eve. She also asked him why he didn't send me anything for my birthday in May, and he asked what schools I attened. At times he felt he wasn't answering the questions or being as specific as she wanted him to be. During the interview he felt like he was going to be declined, he heard other people before him being declined. But he was approved to his surprise. The women told him good luck and to pay for the visa and that he should recieve it in 4 days!!!

According to my husband it all went much easier than he anticipated. He waled in and was told to give documents to window A (his passport and such), then waiting again, window B ds-230 1&2,marriage cert, and birth certs. Waited went to Window C for actual interview. He said the lady was quite nice, and she asked a couple of questions typical nothing out of whats necessary. She flipped almost all the way thru our wedding album and commented that pics were nice. And then she gave him the pink slip and told him to go across the street to airpak, he paid just under $500JA and then he was on his way. He got in about 9:30 and he was out before 12noon. She didn't even ask for my 2006 taxes nothing is his binder, no cards, letters, nothing. But better be prepared than not.

compared to other stories i've heard from consulates in other countries jamaica wasn't that bad, in fact in terms of the time it took for them to process the case it was impressive for such a bureacratic organization. I had never been to the embassy before, so I expected to sit down at a desk with someone interviewing us as that is what it's called. However, they just moved the embassy it was very new, clean, and the air conditioning was blasting. It was setup like a bank where you talk with someone through a window making it very impersonal and your business open to everyone. The employees seemed tired and unenthused to have to deal with people but tehn again we were not fully prepared (no medical, police record, or impedient to marriage doc) so I was thankful that they didn't just flat out deny us. So overall not the best but certainly not the worst

We had a 12:15pm appoinment May 3rd.

We got there at 11:15pm

They started to line us up outside the doors at 11:30 for 11:30am-12:30pm appoitments.

We went threw the metal detector at the Embassy. The American guy infront of me held up his line cause he brought his cell phone in and we all told him he couldn't but he didn't believe us. So he had to go back outside and give his phone to a person who keeps it in a plastic bag and gives you a number. The lady commented on my binder as I entered It weighed at least 5 pounds. The security gaurd was like your preparied this should be easy for you guys. I hope because we have been together for about a decade.

We then walk through the court yard and enter another door. This is were my husband pulls out his DS230 one form and signs it and his four passport photos. He gets a pink slip where he puts his passport number on the back of it and the front on the line.

We go through another set of metal detectors. Then they tell us to have a seat to the far right of the hall. This is section A. They call him up to the window. The lady takes his Birth Certificate, Wedding Certificate, Passport, DS230 part 1 and 2.

We then go sit down in section B. My husband gets called again and his index fingers on both hands are scaned. Then we sit.

Section C we waited for like ever.

Then we finally got called up for our interview. We raised our right hands and swore in. The guy joked with us from the start. He grew up around were I live. He asked my husband where he met me. He asked what insturment he played and I played. Then he asked when did we get married? Then he asked where I worked? He said I really can see you two our very much in love and a wonderful couple. I really don't think I need to see anything in that binder or album. He said we were very luck to have that much information most people don't (10 years worth). The visa was granted we took the pink sheet the officer said do not buy his plane ticket until he recieves the visa. It should come in about 14 working days. He told us to go across the street to get the visa sent to him. So we went across the street and paid for the visa to be delivered. It cost 7 US dollars. My husband asked the lady to call the taxi driver and he paid 30 JA for his phone call. As we were leaving a guy asked if we needed a taxi my husband was like we just called someone. So the guy let us call to cancel the taxi so we could us him. Then we went to order our favorite pizza at Pizza Hut pinapple and pepperoni.

The whole process took 2 hours

the interview was very simple. The interviewer asked my husband when he met me, how we kept in contact and he asked for pictures of our marriage. We only had trouble because i didn't provide a copy of my 1040 or we would have gotten his visa on that day, but he went back later and he got through. our biggest argument was what he should wear, which was not a big deal. The people were for the most part nice, there was one lady at the first window who was very abrupt but other than that, things were okay. Just make sure you have all your information and everything will be okay.
I don't really think i had to be there, they didn't ask to see me or anything, and the only time i said something was when the interviewer told my husband that my income for last year was too low and i jumped up as was like "look at this year!! i supplied the w2s!!" and thats the only time he talked to me, but other than that everything was fine.
