We arrived at the consulate a little early for our 9:00 a.m. appointment on January 13, 2010. We provided our interview letter,4 passport photos, and both copies of 156,156k, and the 157 to a lady out front before we were allowed in through security screening. The lady pointed out some things that we missed that needed to be filled in on the forms. Please have a pen!! We went through security and then filled out the missing info on the forms that were circled. We checked in and was given number A136. We were told to go into the right of the building to have a seat. We waited for what seemed like forever before we heard our number being called. We went up to window 5 and was asked to provide interview letter,4 passport photos, and both copies of 156,156k, and the 157. We were also asked for non-impediment record, police certification, and the I-134, with my 2008 W-2 and tax transcript. We were told to go to get my fiance's fingerprints and then come back and have a seat and wait for our number to be called again. We sat down and was just trying to stay positive and focused. We saw a variety of people that received blue slips for things such as needing medical exams completed or more proof or newer birth certificates. Finally our number was called up and we both went up to a guy that was giving out mainly blue slips all morning.
So we both are asked to raise our right hands. We did. Then I was asked to go and sit down while my fiance was asked to pick up the telephone.

He asked him the following questions:

1. Where did we meet?
2. When do we met?
3. When did we start dating?
4. How do we mainly communicate?
5. How often do I visit?
6. How often do we talk?
7. Do I ever send him money Western Union and if we had any receipts?
8. He asked if he had ever been to the U.S?

He then asked if we had any photos? I jumped up cause I still had our purple folder with everything organized and prepared. I walked up and was like here baby. I didn't go back and sit down at this point. The interviewer looked at the complete photo album. He then asked if we had any cell phone records, which we had a few months worth. (We both had changed cell phone numbers through the course of our relationship and we explained that as well). I then provided a few of our many e-mails. Then the interviewer asked for my passport which I provided. He was looking at something on the screen. I then asked if he needed copies of my boarding passes, he replied no. He stated that the Visa was being issued and to please go to the DHL counter to schedule pick-up. We thanked the interviewer and went to DHL to schedule pick up of Visa.

We arrived at the consulate at 8:45 our appointment was for 9:30am. we provided all of our paper work to the woman at the door, when we entered we were given a number A149, which was called we provided the woman with all of the information, then they sent us to go get finger printed, we sat there the whole time praying, because he had admitted to smoking marijuana 2 years ago, so we were worried, because of what I had read on here. Any way we were called up to window 8, and a young blonde American asked us to hold our right hand up to swear to tell the truth so we did. then she opened up and envelope and asked me to sit down and asked him to pick up the phone so he did. And the woman asked him when was the last time he did drugs, he does not do drugs, so she denied him, and told him to come back December 2012.

The appointment was at 7am and we arrived at 620am. There were two lines and we were directed to the one closest to the embassy entrance. We waited about 20 mins before being called in and going through security.

From here, we had to walk through a courtyard, where we were able to put our belts back on that we were required to remove during the security check. We entered a differen building where we were checked in with others and were directed to one of two areas. The area to the left appeared to be for those looking visitor visas and the area to the right, where we were sent after being assigned a number, seemed to hold those who had someone filng for them.

After about 20 minutes our number was called and they took my husband's fingerprints and confirmed that they had everything that was sent from NVC. We sat back down and soon afterward everyone else had been called to do the same.

About 45 minutes later, they started calling people for th 2nd time, that had prevously gone up for fingerprints. So far, the first 3 sets of people get blue slips. When our number was called for the 2nd time, we were sworn in and a the man who was conducting the interview asked who was the applicants, and then asked my husband "who is this woman beside you?" He told him my wife, and then the man asked me to take a seat, then proceeded to interview my husband.

When did you meet?
When did you start dating?
When did you get married?
What does your wife do for a living?
Did your wife ever send you any money before? How often?

The man asking the questions then asked to see phone bills, photoraphs, and the Western Union receipts. We actually had a big leather bag with our wedding album and a regular photo album that had well over 400 pics total - my husband was simply asked to hold up each and flip through a few pages. We had over a years worth of phonebills/records, so my husbnad slipped a bunch of them under the window with the Western Union receipts and the man was satisfied.

Finally the man asked for my husband's passport told us to go to a far window to pay for the DHL pack. I was never called up to answer any questions...I guess the huge bag of evidence said it all!

Arrival
We arrived to the Embassy around 8:15 am for our 8:30 appointment. We approached a long line at the front of the embassy and was greeted by a consulate officer. She checked our paperwork and highlighted the areas where corrections needed to be made. She then asked us to go to the front of the line and show the security officer our paperwork. We then entered the building and had to go through the medal detectors. They do not allow cell phones, so the only items we had with us were keys and paperwork. I would also suggest that you bring a pen because we had to borrow one on several occassions.

Entering the Main Building
After we made it through the medal detectors we had to stand in line for the main entrance. There were applicants for visitor and other types of visas sitting on both sides. They were allowing about 5 people into the building at a time. We had to step out of the line to make the corrections to our paperwork, however, we were allowed to get back in place after this was complete. After we entered the building, we stood in a line to give the consulate officers our DS forms and in return we received a number. We were then asked to enter the building and sit on the right side.

Part 1
After about 20 minutes our number appeared and we approached the window. We were asked for his birth certificate, non-impediment, police certificate, and his paasport. The Jamaican officer was very rude and it was very difficult to understand what she was saying. She was asking for my 2008 paperwork, but I wasn't sure exactly what she wanted. I had bank statements, employment letter, etc. so I wasn't quite sure what she wanted. She got so frustrated that we didn't understand her that she made us stand to the side for over 10 minutes while she helped someone else. As we were standing to the side, my fiance eventually translated what she was asking for. We stood patiently and she eventually called us back to the window. I then provided her with the I-134 form, employment letter and 2008 W-2s and tax returns. She then asked us to go to Window 17 for fingerprinting.

Part 2
After fingerprinting, we returned back to the right side to wait to be called back for the interview. During our wait, we saw over 5 people receive blue slips. We could not totally understand everything, but most of the blue slips were for family-related visas and they seeemed to be due to a lack of paperwork. After our friends, Eric and Jew made it through their interview with an approval, we felt a little more optimistic. We were eventually called to the window by the blonde officer. She looked through our paperwork and asked the following questions:
1.) When did we meet?
2.) How did we meet?
3.) How many times had I visited?
4.) When did I know I wanted to marry him?
5.) Have I met his family?
6.) Has he met my family?
7.) What was my occupation?

She never divided us up and all of the questions were asked as we both stood at the window. She then looked through our pictures that were provided in original application and asked if they were all from the same visit. We told her no and indicated that they were from my visits in June and August. She then handed my pictures to me because she said that we may not see them again. She then told us that he was approved and told us to go to the DHL window. She also told us that we had 90 days to get married upon his arrival to the US. We thanked her and he went to the DHL counter to setup shipping arrangements.
