Review Topic: K1 Visa

Today was our interview @ 8:30am. We stayed with my sister in Portmore, so we wouldn't have to travel far. My sister drove with us to show where the Embassy was located. We arrived there just a little after 8 am along with his son and joined the line (thank goodness we did not have to stand in that hot sun). Our number was A145. It took maybe an hour to get our number called. Presented the lady with our documents and we had only paid one visa fee and was allowed to pay the other visa fee at the embassy. NCB bank tief. The local rate for visa fee is $31,500 which equals to $90 to $1 US. NCB bank only gives you $83 to $1. Thank God I was able to pay the US at the embassy and not local rate. Forwarding forward. Most people got blue slipped for not having up to date police records or missing the sponsors citizenship status and filling out the wrong Sponsor form. After 12 pm our number was called and we were third or fourth to last to be called. They asked my fiance:

When we met?
Where did we meet?
How many times I have visited and for how long?
Where did I live?
Where did I work?
What kind of work did I do?
Did I have kids?
What was her name?
When did we get engaged?
Why you want to get married there and not here in Jamaica?

Possibly some other questions, but I can't remember now. I was listening to some of the answers so I had a clue to what he was asking him because I would drill him on those same questions. He asked me to come up and pretty much asked me the same questions and ask for the money gram receipts and the phone records. I had tons of pics and he didn't ask for any. After that he told me to go sit down and I saw him shuffling through some papers and was hoping that he didn't pull out a blue-slip. Few moments later he asked my fiance for his passport and told him to go to window 26 to pay for DHL and that his visa will be in the passport. I have never been more nervous in my life, but fiance claimed he was cool, lol. DHL says it will take 4-5 days, but we will see on that. Hopefully he will be here in two weeks time.

So far this process has been remarkable. Before my visited to Jamaica on 5/22, I rec'd my approval from USCIS. When I arrived back home on 6/7, my paperwork had reached Kingston & the packet was mailed to my fiancee on 6/3. I completed the DS230 Part 1 and email to the emabassy and two days later, we rec'd our interveiw date of July 22nd @ 8:30.

Our Interview was scheduled for 8:00am we arrived at 7:15am and it was a long line and we were instucted to go to the line in the front and they checked his name off the list and wrote on the back of his pictures. We were told 5 at a time and we then went through security and out in the back and walked into another building we gave the guy at the desk the papers and he gave us a yellow slip to put hubby's passport info on and number a130 and said go have a seat to the right. It was so crowded that we had to stand and the numbers were call out of order. After about 1 hr we were called to window 5 and the lady took his finger prints and his medical and asked if he has ever been to the US before. She then told us to have a seat. As we were there everyone that went to the window got blueslips for police records and I was thinking to myself well they didn't know that they need a police record before they came here(STUPID ME). We sat for about another 1 hr and the we were call to window 9 and sworn in by a young lady she was nice but she told me that I need a co sponsor cause my income for 2009 wasn't enough so I told he i was laid off for more than half of 2009 and I called the NCV on numerous occassions and was told to that it was fine cause I make more that enough in 2010 I had 6 months paystubs and she said that it is Jamaican Embassy rule that they only use 2009 tax returns. She told me to have a seat and then he pick up the phone and talk to her and then he came back and said he also need to get a new police record. He had to leave the go sit in a line to pay for the record then when went to take the receipt so it can be order but what we saw neither of us was prepared for the inside was jammed and the line outside was to long to explain we stood out there for 5 and a hlf hours in the hot sun and he saw a guy he knew from Mobay and he let him get infront of him. The placewas to close at 3:30 we left there at almost 6:00 and it was still open an full of people. I must say me experience wasn't a good one because what they where asking for could have been taken care of before we got there. She never asked me any question or look at any of the things we brought.

1.Where did you meet your wife?
2.When did you meet your wife?
3.Where does your wife work?
4.Was your wife married before?
5.Has your wife met your daughter?
6.Did he meet my kids?
7.Did he meet my mother?
8.How many people where at the wedding?
9.Who from my family was at the wedding?
10.Where in Ohio does your wife live?
11.How many times has your wife been to JA and for how long?

Our interview appointment was at 9:30 however we arrived early because we were worried about traffic. We arrived around 9 o'clock, a woman went through our paperwork making sure we had two froms of the DS-156, 156K, and 157, passport, visa fee of 350.00 USD, and passport. Once she put those in order she had us go through security. Once through security we went through court yard to red and white sign where we recieved our number A-152. At around 9:30 our number was called and we went up to window 7 where we handed in the DS-156, 156K, and 157, passport, visa fee of 350.00 USD, passport, 134-affidavit of support, Birth Certificate, Non-Impediment, medical packet, 2008 W2 with return, 2009 W2 with return, and police certificate. The woman then had us go to window 17 for my fiance to get her fingerprints taken. Once this was done it was around 10 o'clock, we then waited about 2 hours for our number to be called again for the actual interview. During this time we noticed a lot of blue slips ,ostly because paperwork was not properly done (no signatures where needed), not having original documents, not enough financial support, the petitioner was not present, no evidence of relationship (pictures), and one persons medical was not properly filled out at the hospital.

When we were finally called up we were sworn in and I was then asked to sit down. My fiance was then asked:

1)when did we meet
2)when was the second time I visited/ how many days
3)where did i work
4)what was my position
5)has she met my family
6)have I met her family
7)what other dates date i come to visit her

At this point my fiance told the woman that including this visit I have come to visit 6 times. The IO then asked for my passport, she reviewed it and was pleased. She then asked to see some photos. After that the woman asked my fiance if she has every been arrested, has she every left Jamaica, no to both. IO then asked for her visa and said your fiance visa is approved.

Just make surew you have your paperwork correct and organized and everything will go smoothly.

Our interview was 6/4, the interview was okay, but the rep we had was very rude , he stated that my husband need a police record due to the fact he was in the Bahamas for almost a year, so we received a blue slip. Now we are in the process of sending his passport to the Bahamas so his cousin could pick up his police record and mail it back to Jamaica and than we have to reschedule a blue slip interview to drop off the info. Once everything is complete I'll give more details because the internet service that I'm using sucks, but I'm glad that was all they needed and nothing eles. He ask how we meet, why did we marry 6 months later, why was my husband in the Bahamas, why didn't we get married in the Bahamas, what was my kids names and what type of work my husband do. We both gave the same answers to every questions and then he stated we'll you two don't have any proof of your marriage and I feel like you just want a VISA, WT!@#% i stated to him how you come by that we answered all your question what more proof do you want, and he stated we'll you two seem to organize WT1235 again, so he pulled out the blue slip and started checking off everything that was checkable and once I looked at it I stated I have everything you just checked off, so I gave him what he wanted, he never looked at 1 picture or the money gram receipt, he just put a line through the blue slip and yelled well since you were in the Bahamas for 11 1\2 months we need a police record and than we could issue the visa. My husband was like are you serious and he just looked at us and said just call the number once you receive the police report and than he looked at me and said you don't have to come back with him either, I just smiled and walked off. HOW BOUT IT.....
