My interview was schedule for 8am but we did not get call until around 9am which was ok. My fiance and I were interviewed by a wonderful person who ask us a few questions about our relationship. Why we seperated the first time? How did we re-connect? Who found who first? About our wedding plans etc. She asked for no proof of relationship I guess because I had sent a few in when I filed and there was proof that he and I were young adult sweet hearts also. All together for documents they only asked for my 2014 tax returns and the affidavit of support.

Wife was told to come back with me just to prove or marriage was not fraudulent all because I was a born American citizen despite the fact my father is Guyanese. Came down the end of February and was interviewed for over an hour, only asked my wife 4 questions at the end. The lady was Guyanese stern but nice and looked like she worked for the embassy for years. We were told to leave our marriage album and would hear something in two weeks. Went back home very sad but they did get back to us after the two weeks that we were approved. Visa was already there from the first interview and would expire in 6 months so had rush to get things in order for traveling before the visa expired.

I've heard horror stories but thank God we did not experience such.

Long wait but other than that, no bad comments.

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Interview was 05/28/14 @7:30am. We got there about 7:20am, there was about 80 people waiting online. There was two lines, one with about 15 people and one line with a lot of people. We asked the security lady where to go, because we have a 7:30 interview, she told us stand on the short line. (Am guessing the short line was for people with visa interview’s and the long line was for people going for tourist visa etc.) A few minutes later a lady came out and called a few people at a time and checked their passport’s and looked at their interview letter. We were then let into the building, the security lady told me to take everything from my wife, her bags etc.. (They have lockers to put cellphones in, but the lest stuff you take the better for you. No liquid’s, lotion’s etc., leave all that stuff home. We took nothing except interview stuff & passports) My wife went thru the metal detectors first, then I had to put everything down in a box for the machine to scan it, I went thru the metal detectors and the security lady said she had to look through the photo albums, to see if we have any electronics in between. Then we went in the court yard, made sure we had everything. Then we went into the building, there was a guy at the front with a small desk, he ask us for the interview letter and told us to go sit at the far right part of the building. Within two minutes, my wife’s name was called to go window 8, (It’s a glass window & some counter space, you stand up facing the person) the lady was nice, she asked my wife her name and ask her to spell it out, and gave her the domestic abuse paper, for her to read. She asked me for my original birth certificate. I handed her it, and she handed me back everything I ever sent USCIS & NVC. All my paperwork that I submitted with the I-130 she gave me, every single paper I sent NVC she gave me back with the envelope’s I sent them in. She said they don’t need it no more. She then ask my wife to put her finger’s on the scanner, after she did her print’s the lady told us to go sit down and wait for our name to be called. We went back and sat down, I was just looking through our paper’s we had, and I told her to just check out the domestic abuse paper, because I knew they was going to ask her if she looked over it. About ten minutes later, my wife’s name was called to go to window 10 (located towards the back of the building) the lady was a nice who interviewed us. She asked my wife to put up her right hand, and swear she’s who she is and will answer truthfully. Then she asked who I was, my wife said her husband. First thing she asked was did my wife looked over the domestic abuse paper. She said yes. I was standing to the side against the wall, my wife stand up in front the window. These are the question’s she asked my wife. When did we meet? Where did we meet? Where do I work? What do I do at work? Then the lady asked me if that’s true, about the where I work. I said yes. She then asked Do I have any kids? How do we talk to each other? Do we talk to each other every day? When did we legally got married? Did we have a wedding? How many guest’s at the wedding? How many time’s after the wedding, did I visit her? Do we have any photo’s? My wife said yes two albums, and then the lady asked me to bring the albums to the end of the hallway, and pass it through the door. I did and she take it back to the window and looked through the first 3 pages. Then she asked me to go back and get the albums from her. When I came back she said to my wife. Congratulations your visa has been approved! Come next Tuesday at 2pm and pick it up. I was smiling, my wife was smiling. We told her thank you very much. She was a nice lady. As we were walking back to exit the building, inside the building was full of people, every seat was taken. We were back outside by 8:15am. We didn’t have a hard time, or didn’t even wait that long, I was surprised because the other review’s I read here on the website, people talk about waiting a while and stuff. (Make sure you take everything you possibly can, it’s better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it) We took phone records from 2011, about 200 pages, cell phone history, 2 photo albums, ticket stubs, airline receipt’s, wedding receipt’s etc. The review’s I read here, had me scared that this was going to happen, that was going to happen. Overall the embassy was better than I excepted. I hope this review can help as much people as possible. Thanks Visa Journey!!!

Review Topic: K1 Visa

Interview was scheduled for 0830 in the morning we arrived around 0715.The line was long at that time and it was then that I found out we only needed to come 30 min early, you are wasting your time coming any earlier because they call your time slot to come thru security about 15 min before the appointed appointment time, you cant go thru any sooner.
So they called the 0830 appts at 0815 I got up to security where I was told I had to throw away the package of gum I had in my purse,no gum even if its not being chewed and still in the package is allowed to be brought in.
Went thru security where we had to leave cell phone in a basket and then a locker and from there we went to a court yard and waited for a little over an hour and then we were called into another area that was very coldly air conditioned, so wear a sweater.
This building is where you go to pay your fee and where they call your name to check documents and they do the visa interviews. We sat for sl over an hour before we were called to window 8 where a very nice lady ask for our documents and asked my fiance questions like what was my name and how is it spelled,so I told her my name and she said,"No you cant answer the questions he has to answer them, why dont you go pay the fee". So since I was dismissed to go pay the fee she continued to quiz my fiance about our relationship. We then sat down for another 40 min and then we were called to window 10 where the interview took place. For some reason I thought it was going to be a face to face sit down interview, its not,you stand at a glass window and the lady ask my fiance the basic questions, how long we had been dating, how we met, which website, how many times we met in person, why I didn't stay at his place when I came to visit and to meet his family, trips we took together, when are we getting married, what were are plans for a ceremony and if he had read the domestic violence form and then she briefly went over it.
She asked if he had other id besides his passport which the lady at window 8 had also asked him and he told her yes and she said "Mr Arthur I am approving your K1 Visa you can pick it up after 2pm next Thursday." This was after she asked me when I was going back to the states which I was leaving on Monday the 16th our interview was Thursday the 12th.
All in all interview went great, the lady who did the interview was very nice not intimidating at all she typed the entire time of the interview and was very friendly.
We left the embassy at about 11:15 am very happy and of coarse we started calling family and went out to Altitude, an outdoors restaurant and night club that looks out over the city of Georgetown, later that night for a celebration drink and dinner.javascript:emoticon('')
WOULD GIVE THIS A 5 BUT THE WAIT WAS TO LONG.
