Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Based off of my notes from hubby's phone call:
Because Dakar is so understaffed, he actually had to help to translate other Gambians who spoke Mandinka (local language) better than English.
So he does not remember many of the questions that he was asked specifically, however he did say they asked a lot of questions about me, and they were looking at the pictures and evidence I submitted thru USCIS. Here are some of the questions he did remember:
How did you meet your wife?
Where does your wife live?
What does your wife do for a living?
Was asked about the mutual friend of ours who also filled out an affidavit for us and is also our joint sponsor.

He arrived about 7am for his appointment at 8am and had to write down name as a sign in process at the gate and waited in line until about 10am or 11am.
Once he entered, It was a man who called him to window who gave him back a big USCIS package of documents(everything I frontloaded) and only took his passport/passport photos, original documents, and the sealed medical envelope. They gave him the medical results back in the end.
He said it was easy and difficult at the same time and he would rather forget about it. LOL
He got a little nervous because they were giving him all the papers I frontloaded and just told him to sit down, with ticket number, and did not even ask for the copies of documents he brought. He waited for about 2 hours and he was the last person to be interviewed.

His ticket number was 108 (Ironically our special number because it took me 8 months to get a job and save the money for filing fees and then it took us 8 months to make it thru the process plus our NOA1 date was March 18th and interview date was November 18th), not to mention his appointment was at 8am.

It was a woman who interviewed him in a small room. It is the same woman who he helped to translate for others.
They did not look at the pictures even though he mentioned more than once that he brought wedding pictures; they only looked at the pictures I previously sent and took his passport and gave him a green ticket/piece of paper that says come back Tuesday at 2pm to pick up your visa.
He did not get originals back, but he did have copies and received back the other copies of the documents I sent previously to NVC and/or USCIS. He will provide them with the copies when he goes to pick up his visa.

So my advice is to definitely frontload and be patient!

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My husband shared his experience. he arrived to the Embassy at 6:40am, the Embassy opened at 7:05 am. He went through security and waited to be called upon. At the window a man asked him these questions.

1. who filed for you?
2. how did you discover each other?
3. What conversation did you first have?
4. What was the conversation about?
5. Has your spouse been married before?
6. is this your first marriage?
7. Did you know your spouse has children?
8. How many children does she have?
9. Do you have children?
10. When did you first meet face to face and where did you meet?
11. Was it the same time you met you got married?
12. What is your wife's profession?
13. What is her profession about?

Then the CO told him to wait then he came back to the window and asked to see his original documents, He told him to wait again and when he came back he said okay finger print here and come back next week to pick up your Visa and passport. Take this slip and bring it when you come back.

He said the CO was emotionless, he didn't smile but he did twitch his nose. Overall it was a good interview and he heard those magic words "your approved".

Review Topic: K1 Visa

My fiancé paid the visa fee in senegal bank. Then he requested the interview and was emailed a date, the embassy write him back 48 hours later. 10 days later that he had his interview.he went for the interview waited about two hours when he was called in the back room he then said he was asked a few questions it lasted under five minutes.they asked my fiancé where he met me at the petitioner, (which was in his home country of Gambia three years back) he also asked fiancé where we got engaged what he loves about me and questions whether I have a big family in the names of my siblings.he then asked to see pictures he never asked to see chat logs but I heard that sometimes they do.after looking at the photographs The interview said "here come back Tuesday at 2 PM" and handed him a green slip.he never officially said approved but my fiancé felt like he was.also very important to remember the original W-2 form he saw people getting turned away for having photocopies of that years W-2.my fiancé returned a few days later on that Tuesday at 2 PM he said there was over 100 people there but he was number five in line where they then issued him his visa and returned his passport!! Good luck on your journey
